They're watching....
As if we didn't already know the media is on these boards:
Health vs. experience central to pilot-age debate - CNN.com
On another note, with all the rest requirement change talk going on as of late....funny how the article states,
"Green said pilots generally take good care of themselves, sleep more than the average person and get regular checkups. They also are banned from drug use, in some cases, even if a doctor prescribes them medication."

I must be honest, this is ridiculous, the majority of the guys/gals i fly w are overweight and dont workout....bottom line..... they eat like s--t and dont take care of themselves....i read APC alot and take into consideration/ learn from a lot of the posts but i gotta speak out here.... im big into fitness and eating healthy..... i very rarely buy food / go out to eat on overnights, yes i do go out and have "refreshments" however i stick to my clean eating habits and cook and pack all my meals, bfast, lunch and dinner... i see what flight crews eat and its **** poor... spending $8 on Wendys or Moes doesnt cut it, its **** food that doesnt help ur body or make you that sharp. Couple that w being tired cause you re on leg 4 of 5 wont help you either, you need to A workout, or B eat healthy or C BOTH! do yourself a favor and do both....like i always say its 20% in the gym and 80% what you eat and you will see results....there are long overnights to workout (if the hotel gym sucks) then go for a run but lets be serious sometimes we cant alwyas workout every overnight cause they are too short, but at least get a good meal in ya......at my airline according to a flight attendant friend of mine in her reccurent they had a powerpoint of the last 3 fatal accidents and what the crew had to eat that day and it was mindblowing, ............cookkies, peanuts....nothing according to her....so do urself a favor and make the extra effort to bring at least some healthy food or try to get a workout in because it does helkp let me tell ya...anyways take it for what its worth

I'll (that is "I will") take a crew member with 20 extra pounds over an illiterate, holier-than-thou, muscle head any day.

A few folks want to focus on mregan's grammar but he or she has a good point. We all have to eat healthy or healthier and workout. The FAA medicals don't actually prove that you're in good health and we all know it. If they wanted to prove health we would all be getting blood work drawn and a full urinalysis. I'm not saying this in order to get the standards changed. I am saying it because it is so important to know exactly what type of health you are in so if you're out of range in an important category, you can do something about it before it's too late.

Some of you cant s--t on my "grammar" lol but i just was quick to type and send that post off last night so i kinda threw it out there to prove my point of view real quick....sorry if it offended you , but i honestly think pilots and flight attendants , at least the majority dont eat right or workout and it totally effects all aspects of the way you think, feel, act towards the job....do it or dont do it .....but i bet if you do those things you will feel better and it will help you get through the day....
