Pinnacle Safety Issues and the FAA
Evidently, yesterday the FAA ransacked a few of our aircraft and grounded them and 9e was not able to recover. The way the FAA did it was the ugly part. As the crew part the plane at the gate the FAA came on board and tore into the aircraft and the things they found were things you would not think of but since the FAA grounded these aircraft for these issues I believe that us pilots should do the same. In my opinion it is not worth having your certificate snatch for doing the company a favor...anyhow here are the issues they found...
1. Erosion of the Galley drain (on the forward part of the mast you will find the paint looking as if it has been chipped away) 2. Cracks in the Nav Light Cover (there are hairline cracks where the screws are in the plastic...they look like someone screwed the covet on too tight hence creating a crack right next or under the screw. They are very small...but evidently size does not matter to the FAA) This is for the CRJ-200 series...I am not sure about the 900. So everyone "fly safe" and don't risk anything!!!!! If the plane has to be grounded...it has to be grounded!!!! |

If it makes you feel better I am on day 3 of a 4-day. Day 1 and 2 were full of cancellations- we grounded 2 planes for items that weren't even "hunt to find". Windshield seal blew off in flight, apu lcv valve wouldn't close.... Living the dream... Let's see what happens today!

Its kinda sad to see how the CRJ2 is such a disposable airplane.
Guess that's what Bombardier gets for selling a converted bizjet that wasn't designed to take the beating of 5-10 cycles per day... |
Wonder who we've offended or what we've done to tick off the FAA. I can see the Nav. Lt. covers...if they blow off, I'm sure it changes areodynamics a bit... but the paint on a drain mast?! are you kidding me?!

My neighbor flies for Pinnacle; he told me that not only are they looking at nav light lenses, but they are all over people about having reading material in their kit bags! Apparently, the FAA is going to violate people for having magazines in the cockpit.
