If they release you, and you do strike you couldn't file for unemployment.

i would be able to, cause the place will go belly up within a few days if we strike. which isnt going to happen, the nmb won't release us and if they did, there would be a TA before strike day came

yeah they released a cargo carrier with 9 planes, watch out. 1300 people is only the pilots you are counting, if we go belly up, you've got mechanics, fa's, gate agents, rampers, dispatchers, and a ton of people that work behind the scene's at noncaring blvd hq. great statement farang

Okay 5000? Still .00005% of the total unemployment. They could care less about unemployment anyways.

It has nothing to do with unemployment. Its the disruption in essential air travel that would be the issue. But Delta has been covering their rear on that one...comair 2001 ring a bell?

2001 is why our management group has been all about getting a contract signed all of a sudden the past few months. i'm sure ole rich and co have told PT to get it together or lose their flying. what's your reasoning why the nmb doesnt want to release an airline group that has been bargaining in good faith for over 5 yrs?

9E will not be released by the NMB.

Any thoughts to the contrary show a complete lack of understanding of the RLA and the National Mediation Board and how they both work (or as some correctly state, slow the process of negotiations to an incredibly slow pace).

Be careful to not be held hostage by those who appear to base their decisons on emotion and a lack of understanding of basic economics and the role that pilots play within the airline business model.

Good luck.

Because they don't believe your MEC is acting in good faith. Take a look at the vote results for this TA. Your MEC voted 5-3, and apparently it was close to not passing at all. That's an indication that your MEC isn't policing your NC, which the NMB does not like. The economy has nothing to do with why you haven't been released. This NMB is itching to release a few carriers to prove that they are willing to do it, unlike the Bush NMB. They're just waiting for the right situation, which is likely to occur soon.

Sounds to me like an MEC beginning to listen to SPSC rhetoric and not the real world. Maybe they need to quit reading their own press.

In the real world I live in, 9E has made money every quarter for some time. They are not getting hit by the economy like the majors are, they are still getting paid the same amount as before. The economy being in a downturn only counts if your company is hurting, and ours isn't.

9E's biggest problem is the fact that thier managers seem to have thier heads up thier collective arses and want to throw a ton of cash into auction rate securities. Why should I be punished for thier poor judgement? Part of me thinks they wanted to make that money inaccessable to keep it from being on the negotiating table... I wouldn't put it past them.
