Rather than pick one of the two options being presented, why not spend some time becomming involved with your unions, and with things like ALPA-PAC so that instead of trying to stretch every penny out of your paycheck, you can instead get a larger paycheck.

The solution here is not to set up cheap dump crashpads, it's to increase your pay to the point that instead of a crashpad, you get an apartment or condo in base. Heck, you could even spilt the condo a few ways with each person getting their own locking bedroom and you'd still be light years ahead of a crashpad.

Listen, when you signed up for this job, nothing was hidden from you. This wasn't some sort of mystery game where you were strung along and things were told to you piece by piece, bit by bit. You knew exactly what you were getting into, probably long before you even showed up for an interview. I honestly fail to see why the burden of your bad decision making should be placed on someone else's shoulders.

You should be a stock broker for being able to know exactly what the future holds prior to gaining any experience. You could make millions by knowing exactly what is going to happen, piece by piece!
