Look at you taking the high road...The fact that Copper managed to resist crossing the hallway for a new job says alot about his integrity. At least he didn't slam Lakes before he took a job here.

I hate to interrupt this ridiculous pi$$ing match but...

I took a job at Lakes in 2000 because I saw it as a great opportunity. And I turned down a job at Chautauqua to take it (if I went there, I'd be top 10 on the E175/195 now). Why? Six month upgrade, and 1000 PIC, then go work at United, that's why.

Of course, things didn't work out as planned, but I still look back at Lakes as one of the best and worst jobs I ever had. I was EMB in Chicago, and we had a blast. I still have not come close to those IMT overnights!!! I still get together with ex-Lakers and talk about how much fun we had. Yeah, we made $15K a year, but we knew it was temporary. It was a means to an end. I got out. I feel badly for all of you who got stuck there, but you know what? You knew it going in. The weak union, Voss and his complex, being treated like crap for no money... you knew it all, but you took the job anyhow. Ask yourself why. Getting stuck was the risk, but the upside was quick upgrade and 1000 PIC. So maybe you took the gamble and lost. It's time to man up, quit whining, and either look for other opportunities, or quit.

Hiring is going to skyrocket in 2-3 years. There is a light at the end of the tunnel. Good luck to all of you, I hope you too get out. AT LEAST YOU DON'T WORK FOR MESA!!!

LOL. Are you sure about that. Absolutely positively sure? Why don't you ask him, you'd be surprised.

Who do you think is going to be hiring in the next two to three years?
There are bunches of furloughed pilots on the street that need to be called back prior to any hiring.

Big picture, people. Mandatory retirement kicks back in in 2 years, and the mainline carriers will have THOUSANDS of retirements over the next 5-10 years! I've heard industry analysts saying that the mainline carriers could hire every captain currently working for the commuters and still not have enough.

...Just in time for our government to step in and "rescue" the industry from a pilot shortage with another beautiful regulation.

I'll believe the pilot shortage when it is here.

From the way things were going this past few days, it seems like there's a pilot shortage at Lakes at least. I know there was over 400 hours of open time just for FO's as of yesterday but I've also heard there are no plans to hire anybody in the near future.

Heard a couple of days ago that all the people who were sent home from the last new hire class have been sent emails asking if they are interested in coming back. Looks like there might be a little bit of movement at Lakes in the near future. Also some pretty serious rumblings of us finally starting to fly to Vegas and some shuffling of crew bases. I've heard we'll have PHX, DEN, MCI. I can't confirm any of this but I'm hopeful.
