I'll believe the promise of $50 tickets and 6 round trips per day when I see it. Not saying it's impossible but it seems unlikely. Kind of like how some companies who bid these cities promised Caravan service to ORD.

Pretty much it. Absolutely nothing going on here...

Not a whole lot to talk about. A few CAs are leaving here and there, but not enough movement for them to really put hiring or upgrades back on the table. I've heard very far flung rumours of a very, very small number of new-hires and upgrades early next year. I don't know if it's true...probably not. Plus, I think they said they would try to bring back the 20 guys they sent home from training, before they started doing any outside hiring. We are short staffed, however. Reserves are being flown like crazy, captains are being made to cover a lot of right-seat flying, and there is some junior manning going on. Management put out a memo, begging us to pick up open time. Being that we have 20 on the street from training, and 1 official furlough, I don't think I'll oblige their request. ..

The way people are talking on the Lakes message board, it sounds like there will be plenty of people willing to pick it up anyway. Our pilot group is pretty weak unfortunately. Fun, but weak.

I'll agree. I think we all have a general distaste for management at Lakes. But, being that this is a first 121 gig for a lot of Lakers, and Lakes is kind of off in its own realm, in the 121 world, a lot of them don't really understand, or have never been made aware of the connection between picking up open time, and keeping guys on the street longer. I don't believe any Laker would be that self serving, without a little ignorance involved.

Although, might I add, the old mentality of: "I'm just going to milk this place for the PIC-turb, get out in a couple years, and not really care about getting abused", is definitely not as prominent as it was a couple of years ago, which is a good thing, in my opinion; not "good" in the sense that people are sticking around longer, but "good" in the sense that more people are focused on making neccesary changes. Changes need to be made, and I think that we now have the right people in the right positions, and the right union to help make those changes. Plus, we have a large number of people who have been at Lakes for a little longer than they originally intended, who are now interested in seeing life get better. I'm confident current negotiations will lead to a better life at Lakes, which has been long overdue.

I hope you're right about that. I am definitely ready for the fight.

Trogdor 11-30-2009 01:22 PM

And what exactly are you doing to support that fight? I hope that someone who has the balls to call the pilot group weak while hiding behind a screen name takes the time to at least show up at union meetings, but my guess is that you can't be bothered.

I think Copperhed was just saying "weak" with regards to picking up open time. Maybe I'm wrong. I was kinda / sorta thinking that maybe he was saying "weak" in all situations, which I disagree with, and is why I created the second part of my message, talking about how we have the right people in the right positions, and the right union, which will help us bring about change. Calling us "weak" in all situations is not a good message to put out there, when we are in negotiations. But, I still think Copperhed's "weak" part was only referring to picking up open time.:confused:
