Another 13 Saabs to leave Mesaba in 2009

RIIIIIIGGGGHHHTTT.... I'll believe that when I see it, and even then I'll have a hard time believing it. Protecting thier precious widebody flying from KLM or Air France sure. Saving DC-9 and A-319's from being replaced by CRJ900, I doubt half of them know the difference between them.
Well, you can believe anything you want. I, on the other hand have the luxury of actually spending hours in the cockpit with them and make a point of having the converstion with each and every one. Keep in mind that the senior guys are only senior because 2000+ of the actual senior guys retired early. THe senior guys now are actually mid level senior and have more in common with the junior guys than they did with the early retirees.

You are correct on many things. DAL is maxed out on 76 seaters and we will be emphasizing scope from here out. The membership was upset when we gave scope relief to fly some 70 seaters as 76 seaters. If DAL furloughs, then those seats have to be removed. Sorry to see anyones seat go away but better the feed than mainline ultimately. We at mainline believe that one or more DCI's will benefit from the USAir gate swap. All those cities in the NE can not handle mainline A/C loads. Comair is our high cost DCI as they have so many folks on the upper pay scales and their on-time performance has not been stellar to sway the least. Now they have been set-up for failure being hubbed at JFK. Come SOC in January things will get interesting for all of us.
As far as our (Comair's) performance numbers, all I can say about that is that the bulk of our delays and cancellations are as a result of the slot swap program. Why delay an MD-80 or 757 when you can delay a 50 seat RJ? Maybe we are being set up for failure.

Not to mention the money that Delta has been using to subsidize their purchase of Frontier and Midwest, making them a competitor!

Nothing has been finalized yet but I would say YES, it will mean more cuts. We furloughed 110 due to the last round of 10 Saabs being sent back. I'd imagine that there will be an additional 130 or so furloughs as a result. I HIGHLY HIGHLY doubt Delta will be replacing those Saabs with anything. Looks like there will probably be about 270 pilots furloughed from Mesaba as a result of this nonsense. It didn't take Delta long to screw the Mesaba pilot group.
Thats the way delta works, one week you're the favorite and the next week someone else is. At one point ASA and Comair were putting the squeeze on Skywest in SLC now you see 50 seaters in atl and cvg with skywest on the side and an almost exclusive presence in SLC
