highlights of the Pinnacle TA

I posted this in another thread, but decided it needed it's own topic...edited a couple items as well, enjoy:
Here are some highlights from the TA:
Payrates=indus. ave. and adjusted for ind. ave. every year or 1% raises at least
Per Diem= $1.65>1.85 at DOS+5
100% cancellation pay for all cancellations regardless of reason
125% pay if you offer to sit reserve for the original flight time period after a cancellation
150% on all JR. Mans and Xtensions
1 Jr man/Xtension refusal per mo. up to 6 refusals/yr
75% deadhead pay
50% training pay (from FAA credits or PTRB times...1hr guaranteed)
Duty period lmtd to 12hrs if a flight check is involved
Max duty 15hrs
min rest of 8.5 hrs out of domicile and 11 in base (reducible to 9 in certain situations)
Days off: line holder=11; rsv=10
During July and Jan. if you've not called in sick, you get 4.5 hrs pay from your sick bank
Max duty of 10.5hrs after reduced rest or less than 9hrs.
no Jr. Assnmts below min days off
addition of long call rsv (possibly) and CDO reserve
Trip Value or better for pay

that about sums up the good stuff...new reserve is pitiful (too painful to type, but the worst to me is staying "on the hook" as a reserve for 12hrs after your duty on time the morning of a flight assigment even if you have no other flt. assignments scheduled!); Pass is awful; sub par 401K remains largely unchanged (match 50% of 5% basically); signing bonus does not come near making us whole and is paid in 2 installments; 5 yr duration; no COLA except for 1st anniversary of ammd. date

would you like me to post the cons, or just let us all have a kumbya moment? I'm watching football with Jack D and some friends (also upset pilots) so it could be therapeutic for me....?

post that sh.t, higney

Section 1: Scope/Parent letter
-Pinnacle can be bought, no protections.
-Pinnacle Inc can be sold, no protections.

Section 2: Definitions
-Still many "terms" that are what we like to call "whitizms" and can be "re-interpreted"

Section 3: Compensation
-Rates based on other carriers, based on an average on DOS. *proposed DOS of 10/1 keeps the COLA increases of the "heavy hitters" out of their rate increases that happen later in Oct, Nov, Dec.
-Minimum of 1% raise, MAX of 3%
-NO factoring of inflation
-Last "re-averaging" on the amendable date, then frozen
-TV or better, not scheduled block- the "pad" of time for performance still exists at no cost to the company and no gain to the pilots
-NOT in the company profit sharing program for "industry leading" performance

Section 4: Min pay guarantees
-No trip rigs
-No min day
-Still based on ONLY 11 days off for lineholders, 10 days off for reserves

Section 5: Expenses and lodging
-Still below peers (I guess costs of Ramen on a trip haven't gone up)
-No international perdiem (that's nice seeing as we are about to get into an inflationary era with the value of a dollar being in the bucket)

Section 6: Moving Expenses
-Base "hoppers" only get to play the game once a year
-"may be required" to show proof of a change in residence.

Section 7: Vacations
-NO more vacation slide (pre-assigned in pref-bid) and now based on 7 days at 2.7 hours for all days. Gain is a couple mins of pay, but below what most lineholders would credit for the week of actual work
-Vacation "shifts" and "slides" must be done BEFORE the bid cycle.

Section 8: Deadheading
-75% pay of leg value (Trip value on company operated flights) or SCHEDULED block (if a 2 hour blocked flight takes 3 hours due to wx, tuff luck)

Section 9: Misc Flying
-Chief pilot can make you do a "carpet dance" and may be disciplined if you refuse a check flight and he feels he could have flown it from the desk

Section 10: Transfer to Non-flying or supervisory duty
-not much here

Section 11: Training and testing
- May be fired before the PTRB reviews the case
-Pre-assigned in PBS and you will bid for your dates, yet this has not been programmed yet, so SOL for a while.

Section 12: Hours of Service
- 8.5 hours for rest
-may be reduced in base down to 9 for any reason (currently 10 hours)
- Only SCHEDULED to have 6 hour break (currently REQUIRED 5, now its "we tried")

Section 13: Leaves of Absence
- actually improved, no "cons" that I see

Section 14: Sick leave
- You can sell back up to 9 hours from YOUR sick bank a year if you are "super pilot" and don't get sick

Section 15: Physical standards, exams, testing
- Company "can" require doctors note at any time, for any sick call

Section 16- 24:
- Not much was changed

Section 25: Scheduling/PBS LOA
- 10 days off for reserves
- Can be put back on reserve after completed assignment (currently 10 hours off in base)
- Long call reserve requires high staffing levels, not a requirement to use
- Being bought off for OE is still like being on reserve each day
- May use credit (read block) up to 97 hours in a month for up to 4 months
- Call in honest- still no relief from commute issues with NO priority under Delta

Section 26: General
- Pass travel, what pass travel
- Required to reposition planes (currently an option)
- Attendance policy (still a sick policy, if you are sick too often you get to dance a jig)

Section 27: Insurance
- Premiums rise to very close to the "industry average"
- Co-pays double
- RX co-pays double
- NO wellness care (want a baby, that'll cost ya)
- Deductibles rise to $1700/3400 from $1150/2300

Section 28: Retirement
- Match FAR below the "average"
- Pilots are now paying admin costs for 401k ($35ish/yr)

Section 29-30
-Not much changed

Section 31: Duration
- 5 years

The "pro" list was posted by HIREME, these are solely "cons". So look at both, there are a few good things in multiple sections- but the way "I" see it, more negatives and/or "lacking" things than positives.

Hi management!- it's all truth, the golf game invite is still open if you wanna talk on a neutral level. I'll pay for the golf, you pay at the 19th hole.

I think I voted the right way. Thanks, Higney.

also, cheers!

Just to be fair.... the union IS trying to get vacation slide back.

Purpleanga 09-12-2009 08:44 PM

The days off suck. Min 12.

That's nice, but I'd really rather bid for training. Don't like the DH to MEM with min rest to sleep on the crappy sleep number bed with a 5am show. I'll replace the slide with sickation.

If you use sick time around your vacation you can guarantee a carpet dance and discipline.

And you are just taking from yourself (your sick bank) to replace something you already have.

So now you can have the non-transparent illusion of PBSing your training days from what is available and the privilege of paying for your own vacation slide.

Good luck with that.

I called in sick for a trip before my 2 days off before my last vacation and nothing happened. Ended up with 17 days off in a row. A slide probably wouldn't get me that, not to mention how the schedules have been getting worse lately..

Got paid for it as well, since it was in the bank. Use it or lose it, amirite?

I don't care what DAYS I'm required to get in the box. I just want it to be sometime after the F'ing sun is up. But I suppose it'll be like the rest of PBS... get what you don't want.
