SkyWest Announces 6-900's
#42
Stick,
Thanks for the info/rumors. Being stuck in the middle currently, I sometimes don't even hear the most "current" line stories. I was given the party line regarding the loss of the 700/900 with regards to Skywest and ASA pay parity and lack thereof.
It seems the possible loss of 700 CPT's/FO's is quite possible and will be a big problem for everyone else in the 200. Even in the short term is seems like a nasty mess.
I am new, what's the whole Continental deal, I am not familar with that one?
Have you already decided to make the move to ATL? (I assume currently SLC based?)
Thanks again for the thoughts, I have some other questions, but this forum is not the place for all the open questions sadly. I don't have the number of post to PM so I will have to wait to ask those later.

just a thought...but a real union would set regional equipment pay the same across the board. the result would take these new regionals coming in and underbidding the rest out of the equation. and any nonunion carriers better unionize or face tough hiring times at the majors.
almost into my 6th year as an rj fo puts crazy thoughts in my head!

Spectre,
as for a domicile, I have no choice (for now) but atlanta, I am however looking everywhere for a new job- just not at a regional
As for the speculation on whether I meant Mesa or Mesabe, my apologies gentlemen, but I'm not sure what I meant. I just read it in passing. I won't respond to the dip*$&%* comment. I try to be a professional.

Spectre,
Oh, I forgot... the continental deal.... before I start, a note all you snipers... polite corrections to info I post for young guys is always welcome, but try and keep the **** to a limit.
Continental gave Con Ex the ax on some routes. That bidding became open to any and all. RUMOR has it, that it came down to chitaqua, republic, or one of those subsidiary. ASA lost out because "we were not a current operator of the EMB145, or so our company says. Here's the snag, Con Ex had "right of first refusal" that means Continental thought that by giving them the ax on those routes con ex would not want to hang on to the aircraft. Con ex decided to keep the airplanes to everyones surprise and now the deal with Republic, Chitq, (whoever) is dead, or at least open for re bid.
I'm not sure on these facts but that is what is being put out by our mang. I welcome any Con ex pilots to put out the real poop.

interesting idea, but ALPA (or a real union) doesn't negotiate contracts, individuals with the backing of alpa do. As for 6 years in the right seat. That's just wrong, you have my empathy. I've heard that some of the big asian carriers are looking and have domestic bases, If you have the PIC time from a previous gig.
