Unfortunately, JMing is considered part of normal staffing(it is in the contract), and does not necessarily mean we are over/under staffed. There are also no defined levels of staffing that indicate we are understaffed, it is all a relative thing. The penalties for understaffing the airline dont exist either. If the company is indeed understaffed nothing happens.

This might be something to think about for the next contract. Defined staffing levels, and defined penalties once they go below that level.

To all those who say new hiring is decades away, don't be so quick to make firm pornouncements. You may be right, but the economy seems to be doing far better than anyone thought. Just the fact the economy has stopped going down has enabled some people to be recalled. Don't forget AirTran bought back all of its pilots and several others have brought a few back as well.

Maybe I'll be very wrong, but Eagle was hiring up to the day AMR announced furloughs in May 2008. It wasn't recalling until it started recalls last week. Point is, thing can change quickly. I mentioned this somewhere else, but a friend who is a captain for CHQ told me Tuesday he heard all furloughed pilots for Republic were supposed to be back by the spring. It's a rumor, but at least it's not bad.

If a company has "proper" or "enough" staffed pilots, then there will always be enough pilots to furlough. There will never be a such thing enough. We will always be short.

I've been on RSV for 2 years and have never been JM'd.

Just think that if 5 pilots each pick up one 3 or 4 day trip each, that is one whole line that a furloughed pilot could be flying. I mean no ill will toward those who choose to pick up OT, but come on guys, lets get all our people back on payroll as soon as we can!!![/quote]

They announced furloughs early this year (remember the letter saying we weren't gonna furlough), we stopped hiring around this time last year. I hear what your saying but get the facts straight first.

Mass airline hiring happends about every 10 years or so. Also, do you fly for us? If you did, you would know that the economy hasn't made an upswing with AMR or about 95% of the rest of the airline industry of the world.

People mistook what I wrote. In May 2008, AMR announced capacity reductions and the freezing of all new hiring. It was at that point Eagle cancelled any new hiring. I wasn't alking about Eagle's own decision so much as I was talking about the parent company's decision.

I thought Eagle was hiring right until March/April 2009?

wow, i thought is was 3 years for all thos who dont have ATP mins already flying at 121 carier have the grace period. could be wrong. But, no airline is going to hire below the new mins coming just for liability reasons, becasue there is a law in place and an expectation.

i was just on the career support site looking at the list and i think it's going to be a really long time before everyone is back on property. yes it's good they started movement in the right direction but in talking to others who are furloughed, they all seemed disillusioned into thinking that the entire list will be back on property by the new year.

am i correct in thinking that this recall process is going to cause another huge training bubble...i.e. when another 20 get recalled the previous 20 who got out of training will be able to bid into the emj/crj?

it seems like any of these first 20 will be in long term twice over the next year if they consistently recall...

I doubt they will be able to hold JET FO. It is becoming very senior and it looks like the CRJ bid has gone relativley senior as well.

The ATR SJU/MIA/DFW are all senior to LGA/JFK, after the last bid.

NO, IT DID NOT. Only DFW ATR went senior to LGA/JFK.

So yes after the last bid it looks like all three are more senior then EMB LGA/JFK and ORD CRJ.

Wrong again. I don't know where you got those numbers from, but they are incorrect or not updated. The 3 most junior bases for FOs right now is OFC,MFA,SFA.

Whats the point? They will change again in a few weeks when the next vac/disp bid gets posted.

I was hired and put in a pool in May 2008...with hiring stopping then and nobody being hired since then, do these pools still exist?

I read on the eagle lounge site months back that pools didn't expire if they weren't hiring at all once the pool was made?

Do they not update you guys about the pool? SkyWest seems to be pretty good about updating us even though there hasn't really been any news in the 1.5 years I've been in it.

No idea about the pool. If I had to GUESS, I'd say they'll at least selectively purge the pool in favor of higher time folks than we were getting when hiring stopped. They can pretty much do whatever they want with it, there's no official policy of which I'm aware. And btw, I'm just Joe Linepilot.

about the time I was told I was in the pool (may 08, after jet orientation) it was bout 65 pilots big...now its anyone's guess but if I had to guess I put the number probably around a third of that

I think the pool was only 36 people. Because they had 3 classes scheduled which they cancelled, with 12 people in each class. At least thats what I was told when I passed the interview and I was placed in one of those classes. After that I believe it was people who were offered interview but did not have the chance to do it. At least thats what I was told the day they cancelled my class and placed me into the pool.

I have 1300 and 275 multi, 270 50+NM XC, think I stand a chance when the bus turns around? Or do I need to get a 135 gig and bang out the ATP = moving 2000 miles.

I currently CFI and get almost no XC time.

With all due respect if you have to list anything other than the basics, ie- telling us how much cross country time you have, no, I don't think you have a chance.

Crap shoot, word around the playground is get an ATP. But then again it comes down to how many people with 2-3 times your qualifications, who are furloughed, are willing to start over in the right seat here 'if' we start to hire?

Yeah listing the x/c time only brings your attention to the fact you don't have it. I'd only put it on anything if prompted for it.

Got ATP mins x 2.5 and would love to hear from them.

XC time doesn't mean a hill of beans. All we care about is if you have at least the mins (what ever they will be) and the creds to back it up.

You guys that want a shot at Eagle or anyone else, you know what you need to do. Go do it! No one knows if the pool exsits or what our new mins will be if they start hiring. Shoot for and look forward to at least ATP mins. Push for that and you'll be ok.

Just finished recurrent ground. Only thing I heard/saw with my own eyes was a CRJ Instructor who was there to sign papers to go back from the line to the school house. He has been on the line for a few months.

I'm still not convinced the CRJs are all (but 2) going to ORD. Either way they are going to need to train pilots for the CRJ.

ALL 71 WILL BE RECALLED BEFORE NEXT SUMMER. NOT SURE ABOUT HIRING.

Had three swaps yesterday during five leg day and three out of the five ac were dirty! melted chocolate on the seat, lettuce shreds on the floor and half used sauce condiments packets on the side window... Other than that, recalls will most likely be assigned to the atr...(old news I think)

What class are the 20 recalls in? ATR, CRJ?... what's going on in the training house

4 started on Nov 9th. I believe into the ATR. Next class in on the 23rd and it is also a small class. A trickle flow is better than nothing I guess.

How long were the last round of furloughees/first round of recall guys out? Seems like Eagle just announced the furloughs a few months ago, after they got all the TSA planes back.
