Default Airline N Numbers

Admittedly this is a dork idea for a thread but I thought it might be interesting to see the meaning or story, if any, behind some of the N numbers out there.

I few that come to mind where I work:

Mesa Airlines:
N###MJ = Mesa Jet or Mesa Junk
N###FJ = Freedom Jet
N###LR = Larry Risley (late founder of Mesa)
N###BR = Previous ACA (Blue Ridge)

Major, Regional, Cargo, Frac, etc feel free to join.

Actually I always say Michael Jackson for MJ. I like that better!

Continental and XJT are all just 5 digits...no letters.

Colgan SAABs and Beeches all ended in

CJ for Charles J
or
MJ or Michael J

The point is not to just name them..but to explain how Horizon came up with "QX"..instead of HZ or HN or something more fitting to the name.
