You could try mining for bitcoins. If that's not up your alley, washing windows by the freeway entrance.

I signed up for Uber not too long ago. Sounds like you can make some money if you're not in a market that's saturated with drivers. Also, catering is a good one because it's so flexible. If you can work you work and if you can't you don't.

Hey Flightsoffusion, PM sent.

Apply your energy fully to networking and leaving the regionals behind...

Don't waste your time with some small part time gig. It used to be RJ captains with money to burn and stuck career wise that would always start 'the side business'. Most never made any real money and should have focused instead on advancing their careers. Priorities were out of whack.

Catering gigs, working tradeshows, and being part of a focus group. My daughters make really good money working when it suits them and they make up to $50 an hour... of course living in NYC makes this easy. Craigslist is your friend.

I know a guy who worked as an engineer while on reserve at Skywest. He was senior enough to hold a line, but bid reserve so he could go into his office job everyday. I think it worked well when flying was slow and the boss was cool with him working remotely as needed.

When I was 16 I started at minimum wage as a mate on a smaller ferry boat (90 foot). When I turned 19, I got my license and have been a part-time Captain ever since. On reserve, I go in and paint, fuel, or move boats around. When I'm off from flying, I go in and run trips for a full day. Quite a fun and easy job, helps pay the bills. And I think of it as a sort of resume builder too. While it's not "pilot" in command time, I'd hope being "in command" of a ferry that carries 400 pax has to count for some sort of non-work related experience... I just hope they can get past my flight time part of my resume before throwing it in the trash. Beats flipping burger patties or delivering pizzas.
