SkyWest Closing ATL base March 1.
I guess SkyWest made the decision to close the ATL base on Mar 1. On another subject there is talk we will be flying more out of MSP.
|
Maybe they will give some flying back to ASA
|
No, Pinnacle 50s come in next month.
|
So is Skywest still going to operate out of ATL?
|
What are the rumors saying about which carrier that MSP flying is for???

And unless Google is missing a news story somewhere, a general internet search doesn't seem to reveal anything either. I fully admit, I could be missing something, somewhere. (Note: I am not challenging your post as being wrong, I would just like to know your source. If the source is a friend who just went to sim in SLC, who heard from a friend, who . . . well, you get the idea . . . :D) |

Of course we all know how rumors go. I won't believe anything till I see a vacancy, and even then I will be sceptical. |
if skywest is closing ATL i wonder how long before S5 closes theirs.

I think the point of his ASA comment was that ASA is guaranteed a certain percentage of the regional flying out of ATL. At least that is how I have understood the situation over the years. I also believe that they are already under this guaranteed percentage. Hence the "give flying back to ASA" comment.

Really? Just curious, but what is the OFFICIAL source for your post? As a ORD based Skywest Captain, I cannot find any information regarding a base closure on the Skywest company/employee website.

Yes, at ASA we share our guaranteed percentage of ATL flying with Skywest. So all I was saying is that if Skywest was leaving, it would be nice to get some of our flying back.

Is the flying not DAL's? Perhaps if Skywest is leaving that flying will go back to DAL and be flown for a lot better payrates and work rules..... I mean if DAL is under the allowed amount currently would there not be some sort of contractual violation being pursued in the court system or something more about this???
|
90 day notice???

How about Comair, Mesaba, Compass, Pinnacle etc??? ASA is not the ONLY DCI carrier out there. AND last I checked others such as Comair are hurting far worse then ASA is....... I'd wish for them to gain flying if it were going somewhere. Better yet how about Mainline takes the flying back??? Novel concept eh?

It just humors me that Delta flying is referred to ASA pilots as "OUR FLYING" or "OUR ROUTES" and what not... It is actually really annoying to hear such since its truely Delta's.... And I think we all would rather see Delta take THEIR flying back... But guess that is just too much to hope for.

As I said above, we're the only one with guaranteed flying percentages. As for mainline taking it back, that will happen when the DAL pilots decide to fly 50-90 seat jets on <300 mile legs, for our pay scale and benefits. Ain't going to happen.

You are right, because DAL actually has a REAL nice payrate for such flying... And that would force them to lower the bar and I DOUBT they will do that... They are not DESPERATE to fly for pennies like some others apparently are.

Their negotiated pay rate for "RJs" is, when compared to their other fleet types and historical numbers for similar sized aircraft, still low. Just because its 2x or so what regional pilots are getting paid doesn't mean its "REAL nice." Its still low but its a heckuva lot better. |

Wait are you the man from that TV show... The ARROGANT "Airline Pilot" struting around like he's God's gift to women and aviation? Wait my bad that's Jake not John... Must just be an ASA thing.... :)

Nice flamebait. Really showing your true colors now. Go back to Flightinfo.
<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<< Check yours out and change that... No need for that. And last I checked there was no flamebait, just simply saying that this OUR flying mentality needs to change... To better ALL of us and our slim career aspirations... |
People, do not squabble amongst yourselves like a pack of hungry dogs after scraps tossed in by a slave master. That's exactly what DAL management wants you to do. Divide and conquer. I am sure you all noticed, DAL changes who flies out where on a weekly basis. Who knows who will fly what out where next week or month. Just be glad you have a job for now and prepare for the worst just in case.

Anyways... Again I rather see the flying go back to DAL.... And if nothing else perhaps more flying going to a Comair, Mesaba and other places that have more furloughs then ASA whom Skywest Inc managed to help out with some UAL flying..... Let alone you have viewed since you area Captain with ASA how Delta continues to give flying and take it away such as the 900's that you currently have.... How many others were those given to and then taken away from (Comair, Pinnacle, Mesaba any others?)??? |

Ok this is slightly getting out of control.... I simply stated that this "OH WE ARE GETTING screwed at ASA" mentality is annoying. This OUR FLYING stuff that is constantly talked about when last I checked the name that comes before the "connection" is whom the FLYING belongs to. You the continue to say that it cannot go like that because DAL would not fly the planes for what you fly them for. I simply stated you are right, because they would never lower the bar to such a payrate when they have better payrates established (which can still be improved) but when compared to even ASA are far better and have greater work rules and protection.....

Soooo this thread is a disaster. Anyways, I find it to be a good step in repairing the riff among skywest management and ASA pilots. The Skywest ATL base has been a sore spot for many of us for some time, also the fact that skywest is recalling the VLA pilots instead of hiring off the street seems to be an appropriate step in the minds of many of our pilots. It's very interesting that they are making these decisions right before we start to vote for PBS.

Go ahead and quote the Dal "90 seat rate". (It's buried in the DAL PWA). Last time I checked it was below ours. Touche.
Right now DAL Captains flying the 900 would be 1 98.84 2 99.59 3 100.40 4 101.22 5 102.00 6 102.82 7 103.62 8 104.44 9 105.24 10 106.05 11 106.88 12 107.67 First Officers Start at 54.17 and end at 74 at 12 years.... Where's any regional close to that? Better work rules, etc.... And tops out at year 12, is ASA an 18 year scale right? |
