Up until the mid 90's, you had to have around 5,000 hours to even be considered for a National or Major. Twenty years later, a regional run by a complete and total scumbag, buys my company, guts it, and locks me out of a job and replaces me with willing minions who undercut not just me, but the entire industry. Oh well, back to filling for unemployment.

Midwest Airlines was a legacy airline. It is trash now.

You were not a major pilot nor a legacy pilot. You decided to bet your career on Kleenex corporate flight department as your long term goal.

18 months ago, one of my ex-Navy buddies was the Captain of a Midwest B717 flying Presidential Candidate Obama's charter. A year ago, he had been reduced to a Reserve F/O. Today he's an FAA ACI.
