I emailed them this morning and still haven't heard anything. I'm assuming (more like hoping LOL) that they are just backlogged from the holidays. If you hear anything let me know, and I'll do the same.

*EDIT* Got the email to schedule an interview a couple hours ago while I was flying with one of my commercial students. I just gave recruitment a call a couple minutes ago and left a message. Hope to have a date soon!

What time did you call? Did you get straight through? I left a message around 4 pm central time and didn't hear back. I'll try again tomorrow morning around 9 am central time. I might shoot for the 27th if I can as well because Thursday's will work best for me with my current student load. Good luck on the interview!

Thanks for all the advice! Hopefully I'll just get through around 9.

jmartin 01-04-2011 12:58 PM

Hopefully you have an interview by now, just wanted to see what date you picked. If you have the 27th, maybe we can half the hotel room. Let me know

I got an earlier date that worked for me. Trying to get in ASAP ;) . Would have been a good idea though. Best of luck to you!

It is a good idea if you've been studying or have free time to study a lo!

lakehouse 01-05-2011 02:16 PM

interviewed today, one guy went home in 10 min, there were 8 of us, 4 for sure got the letter pending bg chk, 2 for sure didnt (1 was the one who went home first thing, 1 other said he failed the sim) 2 where still doing the sim when i left for DFW. I got it =)!!!! I am so excited!! Said times are 4-6 weeks for class depends how quick your employers are, its 4 weeks for FAA records, so if your employers can match it you will get a call about 4 weeks. I wish everyone luck they WANT YOU TO BE HIRED!

The keys are
1. memorize the tech stuff, its all online.
2. the sim isnt bad, but go do some sim time in a frasca, and read what everyone tells you to do while flying. The guy who got sent home got hired at COLGAN and passed that sim, but lost the GS on this one, I think this one is easy.
3. RELAX, be social, have fun, AE is extreme nice and professional!

Go luck, they want 500 ppl by July.

Congrats! One of my best friends passed today too.

lakehouse 01-05-2011 04:05 PM

who was it, we had a very awesome group, wish we had class together. All 8 of us clicked well, well tech. 7 since one left right away. Tell them Rick says hi the Skydiver guy, they will know, and I look forward to seeing them in class. 2 people I do not know the outcome on, a girl and a 22yo guy who were still doing sim when I left, I hope they passed. The entire day was awesome, being in the ,holding tank' was a blast because of the people i interviewed with, we chatted like crazy, I loved it.

Congrats Rickt86!! Maybe I'll see ya on the line some day. I was hired Nov. 17th, class starts Jan. 17th. I'd highly recommend calling your previous employers to expedite the process. I'd probably have an earlier class date if my last employer hadn't dragged it's feet getting the paperwork faxed back. If everything goes smoothly you can potentially go to the review board in less than 2 weeks.

jmartin 01-05-2011 05:59 PM

Congrats man! I have an interview on the 27th...
What were thew details of the sim? airport? procedure?
Did they ask you aircraft specific systems questions?
What else can you let me in on?
Great to hear your news...

Flyby1206 01-05-2011 06:13 PM

Congrats to everyone who made it through the interview today! As someone earlier posted, make sure your previous employers know that some paperwork will come in the mail/fax and they need to get it filled out and returned (or faxed) ASAP! Thats your ticket to a quick class date!

The puertorican guy...lol!!!!!! I went with him to college.

Try to get all your employers done by the end of this week if you can. I got the call 3 weeks later after my interview.

lakehouse 01-05-2011 06:53 PM

I am calling them all tomorrow, and he is a great guy.

Has anyone in the Jan 17th class received any class schedule or travel papers yet? Just wondering if anyone has heard anything besides being selected for the class? Thanks

Negative. Probably sometime next week.

jmartin 01-06-2011 03:15 PM

Time at Home...

This one is for you guys who are about 1 year into eagle... I know how the airlines life is, but I'm just curious about your experiences...

How ofter were you at home your first year? Any tips on being home more often? About how many nights a month did you sleep in your own bed?

Also- How easy is it for your wife to travel around?

Thanks...

172captain 01-06-2011 03:19 PM

They called me today and bumped me to the 31st jan class, said the demand for captain replacements is hirer due to american taking more pilots than expected.

Anyone else get that news for the 17th jan class?

I got the call today moving me also. Just got myself a 3 week vacation

V1 ROT8 01-06-2011 05:00 PM

I just talked to the CA that gave me a recommendation and he said that he got an earlier date than he expected for orientation at American. So apparently they did have more flow-throughs than anticipated. Strangely enough, he starts orientation the same day I'll be down there for an interview!

jmartin 01-06-2011 07:23 PM

when do you start getting paid and travel benefits?

Pay...first day of training. (day 15 and the 30 or 31 whichever is last)

Travel benefits: first week on friday you get your jetnet pass and you active your trvel benefits (then 24 hrs later you can start using them)

jmartin 01-07-2011 06:28 AM

Will my wife be able to travel after that 24 hours?

lakehouse 01-07-2011 08:01 AM

my girl friend as well, I get to add her if I am not married right.

I was fortunate to get based where I live almost right away. That will make all the difference in QOL. Things are a little more relaxed on the ATR side, I'm usually only away from home around 6 or 7 nights a month. Around the holidays it's a little more than that. EMB guys in are very short staffed so on reserve you will be away more often. This is in DFW by the way so WARNING your experience may vary.

Your spouse, parents and children can travel as soon as you can, probably a week after you start training. However, girlfriend I don't think you can add until after 2 years of employment. There may be a loop hole though. You'll find out when you meet with HR and set it up.

lakehouse 01-07-2011 09:15 AM

can someone give me more insight into this. Someone told me you get one person you can add when your not married that gets the same travel benefit you do. What is the policy with this?

If you aren't married you can add 1 travel companion who can be anyone. That starts when you get your bennies.

I'm on the ATR in MIA for about 7 months now and they don't use us too much on reserve either. I've only been away from home about 4 to 5 nights a month. That will change now with around 15 FOs going to EMJ training in March. SHould be holding a line pretty soon. :)

This is true. The only negative is that your travel companion and parents share a max of i think 25 flights a year.
