Waterski in Salt Lake?

Was flying today and heard a Waterski doing a test flight while I was over Montana on Salt Lake Center's frequency. Just wondering what the Waterskiers were doing so far NW. Anybody know?

Looking for better lakes? It's a little cold up there this early in the year for waterskiers. I'm as confused as you are:D

Maybe they were scouting routes for delivery flights of their big birds from the far east?

Are you sure it wasn't a charter flight?

Foxcow 04-21-2010 03:28 PM

It could have been on the way up to or on the way home from a heavy check as some mx has been outsourced.

Yeah, they were asking center for FL310 "for their next checks" then afterwards asked to go back down to FL250 with a rapid descent for some other checks or something along those lines. I thought about asking them on frequency since it wasn't too busy but didn't want to be "that guy"

So GoJetS outsources their mx to TSA and TSA outsources their mx to somebody else or am I confused?

I really thought this thread was about waterskiing on the Salt Lake.... now I feel dumb... :(

As far as I know only some of the MX, heavy checks, has been outsourced.

Gojets never had their own MX. It has always been TSA mechanics.

It was 834. It's up there for a heavy check, I think. You can pull it up on FTweb...they're running it out of Great Falls (GTF)

Gtf is where all the Mesa dash-8's are being painted. There's also a bunch if their parked 200's up there as well.
