I can appreciate your instincts. However, when we were let go two years ago, it was clear the people there felt badly about the situation. Even though they didn't have to, they gave us two weeks' pay for three days of our time and what I believe were sincere apologies for a situation they hadn't foreseen. They told us we would be given priority. And despite drastic changes in the job marketplace, they've kept their word. Frankly, it would have been reasonable for them to forget any intentions they had at the time, given the change in job marketplace. In fact, it seems to me they've gone above and beyond. Sadly, this is rare enough a thing in our current world that it's reasonable to wonder whether or not a buddy is playing a trick on me.

It's the real deal, and I think it says a lot about what kind of company Republic is.

And to all the naysayers and whiners, commence flaming and attacking at will.

I'm pretty sure my friends at MidWest would have a hard time agreeing with you...

CONGRATS!!!!!! I hope to see you there soon as well. By any chance did you happen to keep updating your info on the application or have you not moved or changed numbers since then? I have moved twice (long story) and changed Home numbers twice but my cell number has been the same so I'm wondering if that's why I haven't received a call. Thanks for the info and congrats again! Also see below.....

Can I ask what the last initials are of both you (Right Seat Dude) and the CFI are? I'm wondering if they are calling alphabetically? Thanks again.

I just talked with a CFI buddy of mine that will be in the class too. He was part of the "hired for 3-days" crowd a few years ago as well.

He and two other guys I know all got the call. One accepted and the other two declined.

The door is slowly, slowly reopening...

I don't intend to "naysay" or "whine", but the kind of thinking displayed above will burn you at some point in the future. One quick glance at how upper management at RAH has handled their latest acquisitions, most notably Midwest, will absolutely prove that they don't give a dam- about you or anyone else that works for them. There are other examples out there (100 seat pay, etc.) but you hopefully get the picture.

P.S. I don't mean to rain on your parade. I'm glad that you're finally getting back to a job you enjoy.

I guess what confuses me is how they can run a new hire class with pilots on furlough? Doesn't the contract require pilots to be recalled in seniority order?

Not true..every single furloughed pilot has been called back. If they are elsewhere it's because they've either bypassed or they've moved/changed contact info. and the company was not able to get in touch with them.

In regards to the to-be-integrated furloughs, they will all be offered spots where they can hold one.

Yo are mistaken...they have all been called back, some have by-passed...but all have been called.
