Default Ship copies of jepps on CRJ?

Do any CRJ operators use ship's copies of jepps? Are you guys happy with it? Do they take up most of your space or just the flight case bin?

Thanks!

ASA has 'em, SKW is getting them. I think we may also be going to ship-set manuals.

From what I hear they take up the bin but not all of it...but that's OK since you don't need a large flight case anyway.

I have heard gripes about people taking plates out and then misfiling them, but that's why there are two sets.

As a commuter, this will give me more flexibility as to where I start trips...I won't have to go to domicile to get my flight case first.

I think they are going to be great to use at Skywest. Thanks to St. George, I am very glad to see this one coming our way soon.

I just hope it actually happens sooner than later.

It's kinda sad that people are complaining (not on this board) about not having their own FOM/SOP now. They NEVER have to do a Jepp revision EVER AGAIN, yet they find a way to complain about it! Personally, I can't wait for ship sets, and I'll GLADLY turn in my FOM/SOP.

ASA does not have ship copies of jepps. I don't know where you got that information from. The only thing close to a ship copy that we have is the "Brick" which is used for diversions to certain airports. Once we open the Brick, it needs to be replaced.

We have asked about ship copies but the question is always dodged. We're not getting them.

I'm pretty excited that we are getting them at Skywest. I'm also glad that I did not buy the coyote works flight case a year ago and went went with the $50 solo bag.

I don't miss doing revisions, however, I do find it much more of a challenge to study a system or prepare for a check ride when the only ops/flight manuals are on the aircraft.

I think any union facing a company transitioning to ship sets would do well to mandate a robust electronic (PDF) distribution of current flight pubs. At the end of the day, the airman is still responsible for everything in the manuals - make sure you have access to them when you need them!

SKW has electronic copies of everything available online and they are updated before we get copies already.

Ouch. I'd have spend a couple days doing transcon jumpseats to study for sim!
