Slightly off topic, but inetersting nonetheless if you compare the career progression of pilots and doctors which are very similar.... Perhaps someday (highly unlikely though) a federally mandated panel of experts that would seek to level the salaries of professional pilots.....

"There is no indication that either crew member had accommodations in Newark. The pilots caught catnaps on a sofa in the crew lounge, which was prohibited by airline regulations".
Ummm did I completely miss something here?

In fairness, I cannot clearly separate napping from sleeping. Probably the reason I am only labor.

Yes, sleeping in the the crew room is prohibited. But, according to HM (VP of operations) during the NTSB hearings, "napping" is not. When asked what was the difference between sleeping and napping, he was unable to give a specific answer.

Seems simple to me. "Sleeping" is what I do at home, when I brush my teeth, put on some PJ's, and climb in bed. "Napping" is what I do in lying on the couch at halftime on Sunday afternoon.

If sleeping is what I do at home, then I only sleep three nights a week
If PJs are required for sleeping, then when I am in uniform for 8 hours, I must be napping
Depending on my mate's disposition, I may spend a whole month sleeping on the couch

I think that fundamentally, we all understand the difference - sometimes logic gets in the way of our politics, though.
