Centre for Asia Pacific Aviation article covering the RAA meeting and the jet vs. turboprop debate. The article includes a good summary of the industry as well.

Good read. I noticed that there wasn't any concern for staffing the "growth" in the future. Seems like the RAA and their counterparts aren't worried about the pilot shortage.
A key point for RJ drivers, take a long look at your contracts and make sure you are not screwing the prop guys in pay. Make sure they are even with you; otherwise you'll end up flying large props for peanuts.

?????? What pilot shortage???????

There won't ever be a shortage if the airlines just do a few simple things. Pay would be a big one.

There wont be a pilot shortage. There is too much capacity in the business already, and regional carriers are headed for bigger airplanes (70-100seats) as opposed to the days of flying around 19-50seaters. Bigger planes means less frequency and fewer pilots.

Sorry, I can't use sarcasm effectivley in text. All of the airlines seem to be sure they can have the new aircraft staffed. Regarless of prop of jet

Delta seems to not like T-props, Mesaba saabs are heading out the door. Who knows what will happen with T-props here in the US.

It's funny you say that, having the blended rate because of the Saab at XJ has killed our 76 seat pay for the FO's on the RJ900
