I don't think whether you bypass to wait, or accept the recall are going to be on reserve regardless, a few might get a line in IAD with the mass exodus from there in this last bid award, but on a whole you're going to reserve regardless, I think that's just something you have to accept. I just missed the furlough, got displaced to IAD, and was commuting to IAD for reserve. Life pretty much sucked, and getting back to ATL just to sit reserve although doesn't seem like a big victory, is a massive victory for me. Just don't understand where you are getting these high expectations for yourself by bypassing, but good luck with that.
If it's me, I guess you missed the part where I'm going to be on military leave as soon as I accept my recall. . .thus not having to put up with the mess of IAD. I'm fine with reserve, I'm even fine with reserve in IAD. . .what I'm not fine with is the current Charlie Foxtrot going on up there, which will continue even after PBS until this company HIRES people to appropriately staff the current flying (and forecasted increases into next year). If you were responding to me, you may want to read what I wrote one more time and notice when I'm going to voluntarily come off of military orders so that you have an idea of where I'm getting my "high expectations," but part of me thinks you were talking to someone else because I never indicated I was bypassing. Try the quote feature, it helps. |
The only issue with IAD is the reserve staffing...if you are a line holder and the weather is fine IAD is very simple and actually not a bad operation that turns out good borderline great numbers and certainly numbers in line with ATL on it's best days. Again, this is all contingent upon the place being staffed accordingly and these next callbacks/upgrades/whatever combined with the lessons learned these past few months SHOULD put us in a great spot. Congrats and welcome back to all those who are choosing to return !

If their life is so good to not come back, why come back at all? Then again I didn't get furloughed so I don't really know everyone's situation. I'm just saying life has sucked period for everyone at the bottom here at Atlantic Southeast, furloughed or not.

I love hearing these furloughed guys talk about what a mess IAD is when they haven't even been a part of the operation. It runs a heck of a lot smoother than any day in ATL.

Cool cheif pilot, no lines for takeoff, overnights in Manhattan and downtown Chicago, numerous open gates with marshallers and wing-walkers waiting and places to eat like Chipotle and Potbelly. Yeah Dulles is a mess.

I love trips that slide thru the united system. Better overnights, better food, better ramp, better sight seeing in the NE and longer legs usually.
What is not to like? |
(Shhhhhhhhh! Don't tell anyone. It's supposed to be a secret!!!!!)
IAD is awful. You don't want to be there. Especially if you're senior to me. |
