Effect of lifting DCA Perimeter Rule
http://www.washingtonpost.com/wp-dyn...l?hpid=topnews
If this goes through, how will it effect regional operations at DCA? Mainly US Airways (PSA, AWAC, CHQ) My thought is many of the regional flights will be replaced by new west coast destinations and maybe one more PHX. |
When I click that link it goes to Mesa's APC profile.. what am I supposed to be seeing there?
|
I would also like to see what would happen with LGA if they lifted that perimeter rule.
Both of them should be eliminated in my opinion. |
If DCA did drop that you'd probably see more of a "hub" in DCA. Regional feed per psa, pdt, rah, awac would still be needed. But you'd see flights like DCA-LAX, DCA-SFO, DCA-CUN etc etc... Also DAL would benefit with it in DCA as Airways, AA, DAL all would in LGA. But in LGA you have the port authority and they are just control freaks... But it would be great to go LGA-CUN, LGA-SEA etc... And yes regional feed would be cut some for "slot" reasons... Also I doubt you'd see the DAL/Airways court case due to them dropping it if either lost the perimeter rule.. Imho

sorry bout the wrong link... fixed it up there and here it is again.
washingtonpost.com my concern is DCA is slot controlled so unless US Airways starts flying redeyes to the west coast, I think some of the regional feed would have to be reduced. |

Lifting the perimeter rules at LGA and DCA (with no increase in the total movements) would almost certainly reduce RJ operations at these airports, but would also create some growth opportunities and the mother ships and that is good for everyone. I think. |

It's only 3,677 NM's away, after all. 'Vision Airlines' plays by their own rules.:D |
It would be nice to see this lifted. To bad this isn't the "land of the free".
