Sad. Not much more to say than that.

"We value Comair too much to throw out ultimatums,"
looks like the value comair pilots more than mainline pilots

I wouldn't be too worried. We comair pilots still voted for the paycuts. I would imagine they will be imposed anyway. Besides the FAs claim its much more than the 7.9 mil the company says they got. I wouldn't call it dead yet. Luckily once the paycuts are in place we can look ahead to the future

What the #$%! is this guy talking about? Didn't you guys fight tooth and nail to get what you deserved? What was that strike all about? So you can roll over and "look ahead to the future"

Do not think he was there for the strike.

In retrospect I believe it was more of a "sweetheart deal" than what was deserved or fair. The company was held hostage so long they had to give in or eventually liquidate. The paycuts take us down back to reality, unfortunate as it may be. The bottom line is we would all love to have sweetheart deals like the majors had but the glory days are over. I wouldn't call it rolling over id call it having a big set of kahunas standing up for what we believe in. We now look forward to a succesful tomorrow with a contract more in the middle. Life ain't easy when your in BK court. The sooner we realize the past is gone and gas is much more expensive the better off we will all be. Armed with this information we can all face a better tomorrow. Now the next step is getting American Eagle style contracts. 16 year contracts with provisions for arbitration every 4-5 years to keep up with inflation etc. 16 year contracts and arbitration are the only way to fly. That way there is a lot less union drama to contend with. In fact straight arbitration is even better. That way both sides will get a fair deal and no more having to strike only to be brought back to reality a few years later anyway. The full pay til the last day concept needs to go the way of the dinosaur as well. Saying you got full pay til the last day is like bragging about being at the flight controls as your crash. Either way you still crash and burn at the end.

I never thought I'd see the day when a Comair pilot says he wants a deal like AE. Just do me a favor...for the love of God...do not EVER agree to a no-strike clause like they did. And remember 16 years is a long time.

A no strike clause is fantastic for job security. A 16 year contract also means instead of going through union drama every 4 years wondering if you will be able to feed your family or not you get to do arbitration and get cost of living/industry standard raises. Its a win win situatin really. In fact I think comair or the next airline can "raise the bar" by agreeing to a 20-25 year contract with arbitration every 4-5 years. Its a win win situation really. You don't have to go through the drama and propoganda every 4-5 years. Its actually a no brainer. Why ALPA isn't trying to think of new ideas like this I dunno. To them ignorance is bliss I guess.

I guess it all depends on what is agreed to before the contract is signed. However, i would never agree to give up my right to a job action, putting my trust in the company to bargain in good faith.
