I don't think it's going to be 3 to 5 years. As long as the economy continues to improve, I think everyone will be hiring by the end of 2011. I just saw an ad for Horizon this week. Pinnacle is hiring, Colgan is hiring, Lakes is hiring, Eagle is hiring, and ASA is hiring at the regional level. At the major/LCC level, US Air, Continental, American, Delta, AirTran, JetBlue, Spirit, Allegient, Virgin America, Hawaiian, and Alaska are hiring (either actively or people in class now) or recalling. I'm hearing a rumor about a class starting in December. Does anyone have any more info?

Someone in HR said that they were hiring to put guys in the pool for a 1st quater 2011 class, but they didn't say much more than that. I will be interesting to see what happens. Alot of folks there at ASA seem to think that a class may be in the works for December.
Does anyone know how many so far are in the pool? |
Not yet. I will see if I can ask around tomorrow and find out.

Don't know about the pool numbers. According to the Basic Indoc instructor, next class is probably the beginning of January.

I just sent off my pre-interview paperwork. Anyone know how long it takes for them to look at it and get back to you? How long before they would set up an interview?

They sent my paperwork when they called me for the interview.
Also said no classes scheduled for now, but were looking at the first of the year. This was a couple of weeks ago. Good and relaxed interview process if you get the call. I didn't get the job but enjoyed the interview. Maybe a little too much....:D |
With December knocking on our door and no indication that another class will happen this year, I'd expect the next earliest class will be early February.
So, keep an eye out and stay safe. |
For those of you with interviews soon, something you might want to ask is what side of the fence will they be placing you? How will your seniority be determined before and post integration? I'm curious as to how they are going to start filling positions. Some mentioned that ASA is properly staffed, I disagree. The picture has changed and staffing also needs to reflect XJT side and some have mentioned understaffed over there. ASA side is short FOs and properly staffed on CA.

There's a very good chance newhires will go to XJT.

Clearly that was my question to whom ever. I wouldn't expect anyone to ask that in a interview. Although, it would be legit to ask about where they may be placed. Like you mentioned, it could be on the XJT side of things. I'm not sure the people who were given an interview for this month understand that now ASA is ALL of XJT-ASA, not just the small ASA that the Nov. class got. |

I don't think this is true. At least not for now. The merger process has just begun and I think XJT will hire guys for that side of the house and ASA will hire for theirs. I do not see a person hired by ASA flying an E145 anytime soon. This is personal opinion though. It wouldn't take too long to combine the hiring departments though.

We are already starting to see the first round of expressjet furloughs that got hired starting to begin their IOE. I've seen a couple of em around the crew lounge. I am also hearing rumors of hiring to continue in January. I sure hope so.
