Skywest opens IAH base

Skywest to fly 70 seaters. Don't think they will be making friends with the CAL pilots.

Msp will be opening as well in february primarily as a 200 base. Iah opens January.

rickair7777 10-28-2010 07:43 AM

It will be UAX flying, a realignment from other bases. It's up to the CAL pilots to negotiate the post-merger scope that they want, hopefully they won't blame SKW pilots for being sent out there...most of us would rather be further West.

There will be a MSP base too.

Whatever happened to the "West" in SkyWest?

Both bases are west of the mississippi so technically they are west.

Ors is going to get shrunk so we are moving further west.

RJDio 10-28-2010 07:51 AM

Are shorts going to be optional during the summer?:D

I go by the continental divide, with DEN close enough.

No worries Rick. I'll take Houston for ya. :)

Haha. Continental divide. Nice pun!

KingAirPIC 10-28-2010 11:58 AM

Also worth mentioning that SBA is closing.

clearprop 10-28-2010 03:17 PM

Has anyone heard if Delta (Skywest) is returning to SLE?

Slaphappy 10-28-2010 03:40 PM

I feel bad for the skywest guys who are planning to go to iah. The xjt pilots are know to be very petty, just ask the chq guys.

Well we all know it will be short lived assuming the CAL/UNITED pilots prove they can win a contract that will eventually eliminate the 70+ seaters...as it should be for the benefit of us all.

Us XJTer's can cope.

what part of the merger requires that the seniority list be merged and what part of the merger requires a new contract for the merger to be complete?

Cannot the new UAL operate as is today? Has any of the UAL or CAL operating certificates been turned in to the FAA? If not , then cannot the new UAL Holding corporation operate both certificates simultaneously as they are now and the CAL flying just transfered over to the other division operated by old UAL where the scope provisions are more lax to CAL's?

Want to bet that this is the plan unless mgt gets what it wants. What would CAL pilots do, go on strike, call in sick, there are what about 1400 UAL pilots furloughed still which would be recalled back with all the new UAL/old and gone CAL flying moved to UAL. That is the real world that ALPA has made for the regional pilots, now it will play out in mainlines. Get the popcorn ready.

Its called arrogance. Thats a pilot thing, not an XJT thing. Its kinda like when we showed up in LAX, enough said.

A few of them are quite nice looking! The rest are dudes, and every one of them is ugly. :D

I hope this IAH base shenaniganz has a positive impact on the long term big picture for all of us hoping to be at a legacy/major someday and gets the wheels turning on tighter scope for the new UCAL, paving the way for others to follow suit.

Why would that be? Surely CAL pilots realize that no pilot decides where aircraft will be utilized or where bases are opened, so I should hope they take their frustrations out on management, not the SkyWest pilots doing the flying.

But it takes courage and unity to go after management. It's easy to pick on the little commuter pilots. I guess we know what to expect...

Have fun trying to jumpseat out of IAH Skywest boys

See, that's exactly what I'm talking about. Grow up and take your frustrations out on management, not the pilots who are being forced to do the flying!!!!!

A jumpseat war benefits no one. Don't even make the threat!!!

SCOPE at UAL

Need to get the facts. There is a transition agreement that does not allow this to go on. As one of those, UAL 1437 pilots, I can say most of us have been in the industry long enough to not fall into this trap. CAL pilots are our brothers and most of us UAL furloughees look at the big picture. That would be SCOPE...get the 70+ seat flying back.

No one will have trouble jumpseating out of IAH, whoever is thinking this is being absolutely ridiculous. Watch out for some of the CAL gate agents though, some of them just hate life in general and take it out on you.

Ha ha, you better do better than that. If you draw the line at 70+, they will be flying CRJ-700s with 65 seats. Wait, we already do that for Delta.

Pilots=stupid. Management=smart.

Gee, I wonder if management has message boards like this where they try to prove to everyone how smart they are. Oh THEY DON'T! I wonder why...?

actually the first paragraph was a question asking if this could happen.
to be quite honest with you, reality does not play out the way you posted. big picture is if they offered you a recall, unless you are making big money elsewhere, you are coming back no matter what or loose your seniority. your brothers or not.

I really don't know why everyone says don't take it out on the pilots...it would seem to me that its nothing personal but I wouldn't gona take you to work to take my/someones job. Look we can't do anything to the man so get at them through canceled flights by not allowing a jumpseater on...you would do more damage to the opperation....a little pain now to make thongs better for us all in the future....you want to refuse me the JS he'll yeh to right ahead....I have a contract that protects me....o you SW boys don't have that....sucks to be you...

You wanna play that? I'm game, we'll see how many xjt commuters from slc make it to iah since we will be doing ALL the flights between those 2 cities jan 1.

Both airlines are owned by the same management team, are they not? You would be much better off working together than against one another.

Let's see some creds to back up your statement, kid. Because if that's truly what you think, you don't know the first thing about this industry.

TheBills 10-29-2010 11:44 AM

You guys have some sandy vaginas. We do not need a jumpseat war. Were a twisted family now, whether you like it or not. XJT pilot, do you have a contract that protects you? Think hard about what im asking? Lately our contract hasn't protected us from much of anything.

ehaeckercfi 10-29-2010 01:17 PM

I have a feeling that most SKW people in IAH will be there against their will. I think I will probably submit my 2-weeks the moment I get displaced there.

Hah, nope. That'd be the end of aviation for me! At least with the airlines.

CL65driver 10-29-2010 02:50 PM

Well, looks like we're up to reason number 32,443,291 to get the F outta this industry. We're fighting like bums over some half eaten KFC, while management pulls the rug out beneath us. So much for "unity". Have fun with your jumpseat war, children.

Haha, you should check out what the alleged CAL pilot is saying on "the other forum". Pure comedy, that is.
