124 Junior Man/Extensions Per Month @ Colgan!
124/month! Staffing problems, I'd say so! This is either a desired outcome of management, abusing pilots to bail out the company or a result of the worst crew planning team in commercial aviation. Either way, it shows absolutely no concern for the employee quality of life, this proves the enormous disconnect between the flight crews and management. I'm sure CAL/UAL would be interested to hear this.
Your thoughts? |
This unfortunately is becoming systemic for at least the regional industry. Horizon has their new staffing levels going on too.
I doubt the mainline partners would care even in the slightest. As long as they are getting their regional lift as cheap as possible they won't notice that yes, the widgets actually do have lives. I say kick them in the knee : ) |
124/month? That's light day..

I just don't get it. Sorry to bring it up, but with 3407 blamed partially on fatigued pilots, now you guys are (excessively) extending and JM'ing, increasing pilot fatigue to the limits? Have we learned nothing?
I would love to see the public's reaction if they get wind of this. edit: We all get junior manned and extended, but I figured that Colgan would be under more scrutiny regarding tired and overworked pilots. |

Enjoying have the former Director of Crew Planning/Tracking/whatever from Mesa? He was a joy over there also.

It's nothing new to the industry, but is it really a problem if crews are accepting the JM's and extensions?
and yes, Mr. Hand is incompetent |

First you would have to explain to the general (laymen) public what the terms 'junior manning' and 'extensions' mean in practical terms and how it increases fatigue in the P121 environment.

In preparation for mesaba pilots to be displaced when our Saab's get axed. No sense hiring new pilots and furloughing them in a few months.
