Default Mesaba Delta Saab Flying to Increase?

Recently heard from a reliable source that due to increasing fuel prices, Delta has reversed their position on the Saab flying. I also saw a post about this on FlightInfo. Rumor has it that Delta is not only going to keep the current Saabs (with Mesaba) but also increase their flying. Any truth to this?

Would not be surprising in the least. There always is a niche for turboprop operations.

I've heard the same stuff around the Delta campus this week. Good news for those driving the Saabs over at Mesaba.

One would think they saw this coming, they didn't think oil prices were going to go back to $100 a barrel ever? I'd be surprised if they changed their decision. I thought they didn't want their passengers flying anything with a propeller. Also, aren't the Saabs already spoken for?

Why would you say that? I know you go to SLC. Do you not see all those Basilias flying in SLC? Those are Delta passengers, aren't they? Even if it is at-risk flying, it is still a Delta ticket isn't it?

I wouldn't be surprised if 9E has negotiated some form of at risk flying or more shared cost with DL to keep these planes in the system.
