Won't know bases for probably 3 weeks they say, but apparently the last Saab class went north so word has it IAH is a decent possibility. And also heard there HAVE been new hires sent to Houston on the Q right out of training apparently. BOS will, we're told, be a fairly senior Saab base when it opens.

Welcome to the club!

Enjoy Indoc,

whos your instructor?

That would be him, I wasn't sure if they'd hire a smoker, guess so. I took Colgan/Mesaba, Republic, and Cape Air and tossed them in a blender and chose Cape Air, and living in SEMass makes it easy. These people have some serious plans.

19 sounds like a pretty large class size. Is that typical?

Yeah, Dave and I were on the same flights out of STL and IAH and didn't realize it until we got here. Nice guy.

We met the Saab instructor, Bill. There were a couple of people giving HR presentations today, safety presentation (The Untied furlough guy, who's name I'm spacing on), and then we met the Q fleet manager James in the hotel earlier. Everyone I've met so far has been really friendly and helpful and I haven't talked to all of the other guys yet, but those I've been out with are all cool.

They wanted 24, we were told 20, but today there were only 19. It was supposed to be 14 and 6, but they already pulled one Saab guy onto the Q, and they're supposedly working out some details we'll learn for sure tomorrow. There might still be some changes because some of the higher time guys who got the Q still had less than 100 multi and they weren't sure if they'd be able to do that (insurance, I guess?). There are three guys on the Saab at least, including me and Fly782, with more than 100 multi. I'm not sure about you Jake, you were down the hall when we were talking about it.

In my interview, and granted this was three weeks ago, they said they wanted 24 in this class and 14 in the next. Total speculation, but it would make sense if they were maybe looking for 18 or 19 in the May 2nd now since they're 5 short in this one. All of the people who came in to talk about passes and payroll and drug screenings commented that this was a bigger class than they were used to.

However, from what we're told, the Q guys will be here for 2 weeks and then onto St. Louis, Toronto, or Seattle for systems and sims. Saab guys are here for 4 weeks through systems and then STL or IAH for sims. That all, of course is, I'm sure subject to change like everything else. When we checked in though, my hotel was reserved through May 10th, when some of the other guy's was only through next week.

Oh, and also if anyone cares, pretty big age range, 20-49, I believe. Retired Army Chinook driver and a furloughed Miami Air guy with a 737 type are the standouts.
