Just curious how many CFI's are still out there looking for regional jobs? My current airline is having trouble filling classes because they claim a lack of qualified applicants and I am just curious how many guys are out there instructing, and or furloughed? I think current minimums are 1500/300, or right around that.

Their multiengine minimum is too high. A new pilot who can't afford to buy 300 hours of multi time is going to have to either get it flying Part 135, or by teaching in a twin. The Part 135 job is going to pay as well as the airline job so that pilot does not feel a great need to quit for the airlines. The instructing job would take 2-3 years to get to 300 hours of dual-given so that pilot is either busy building multiengine time or more than likely can't find a job teaching in a twin in the first place.

I'm out here. I'm am ATP & CFI/CFII/MEI. I have over 2000 total and over 300 multi. Just starting to look for a regional job. Waiting on an interview invite from my preferred regional. There is another CFI at my school with similar total time but very little multi. The other instructors at my school are lifers or very low time. I know they will have a problem getting someone to teach multi when I go though. Most insurance companies want 100 multi to underwrite. It will get interesting...

I have a current CFI, MEI and II and 12,000 hours, but am not willing to work at the wages they are willing to pay. As much as I miss flying, I will continue to work in other ventures until recalled. I don't think there is a shortage of qualified pilots, I think there is a shortgae of qualified pilots willing to work for what they are paying.

I'm not saying 300 multi is to much, but what I do know is building 300 multi is very very difficult. I applied to and have been offered a march 28 class at eagle, I would have jumped at applying to a place like express jet, but I'm stuck at 110 multi. I am a current cfi, II, and MEI

Don't buy into that too much. I have worked for 3 different airlines and I never knew anyone there before I applied. Got every job I interviewed for.
