Yes, at present ASA is forecast to shrink by ~32 a/c. Some displacements will happen as the CR7 go to SKW and the ATR goes away. However a very similar event happened a few years ago when ASA retired the EMB120. Based on the letter attrition is ~16 per month split between cpt/fo. Most cpts. I talk to have thier resumes out everywhere once they break 1000 PIC. For those in the pool a new-hire class is planned for the first quarter 07 for the summer skd.

The key word in all this is forecast. Once the contract is done and DL awards the RFP things can change overnight.

I saw the same thing happen when I worked at Flagship Airlines (AMR Eagle) over 15 years ago...It's nothing new just a new group of pilots it's happening too...I feel for you guys/gals that are going through it, because I went through it and the out come will not be different...Well maybe it will be worse, because there are more Regional Airlines today to take the business...Just remember one thing if you jump ship and go to skywest...What happens when Delta requests quotes for operating equipment at the regional level?...And I believe they just did that 3 days ago. Will you just be jumping onto another ship that will be sinking for the same reasons in a few years?...Good luck and choose wisely not emotionally...Cheers

A lot of people believe that SkyWest will get some of the 143 planes that are up for bid, so I don't think that ship is sinking. But you never know what to believe in this industry.

Like I said, Got a UPS with an overnite return envelope for my updated medical and filled out a couple more of the routine drug & alcohol forms, that were not with my initial application. The same day, the FAA letter that I checked yes for, (PRIA release), arrived.

I'm certain that SKW Inc put in a bid for more DCI flying. SKW Inc needs ASA b/c the bulk of SKW flying is for UAL and not DL. So as not to bite off the primary hand that feeds you, ASA can fill any voids DCI needs w/o any conflict. This is why ASA opened the LAX base even though SKW already has a base there. The SKW LAX base is for UAL and could cause compete conflicts.

To be more specific, UAL flat out prohibits any of their express feeders from flying for both UAL and another major partner out of a UAL hub. So SKW cannot do DCI out of LAX (but obviously ASA can).

Isn't SFO a UAL hub as well? If this were true then how is SKW able to fly the SFO-SLC route under the Delta Connection name? Perhaps there is just a limit to the amount of flying allowed?

is it fairly safe to say that -200 pilots are not in immediate danger of the downsizing?

But those guys that are getting knocked back, maintain their CA pay. Correct?
