All you'll need is a giant jock strap.

I think you should check with the company. I know friends that fly the 190 have hard wired noise canceling Sennheiser. I have been on the 170 as a passenger and looks like they had some David Clark's. Don't know if they were company headsets or pilots own.

I have been using a telex 850 for the last five years, we have DC's supplied in the flight deck. I also just picked up a Sennheiser HMEC 25 which the 170/190 has a ANR plug for. Both work very well.

However the 170/190 is loud down low and fast. on long legs I do take my headset off at the higher altitudes.

850 is a good choice I think. I use 750's and it's just a bit loud. Something with a little noise cancel would be nice.

The following is if you do not mind wearing earplugs:

Best headset for pushback to FL180: $100-200 telex 750.

Best headset for FL180-FL410: NO headset!

But again, if you dislike earplugs, I think you'll need some kind of noise blocking headset (but definitely not ANR).

Default "definitely not ANR" ?

Hi there
Why don't you recommend ANR on the E190?

It’s pretty quiet up front. Last time I was jumpseat on the E175, you could easily have a conversation at cruise without a headset
