Does the ASA CBA allow 5 and 6 day trips? Or did he simply get something like a 3 day a day back to back and two 3 days back to back?

There were a lot of 4day/2day combos and 3day/3day combos handed out.

Dont get too used to that. I have been an FO for almost 5 years. Only got 13 days off for June. And I prefer to fly as little as possible. The more people understand how to use the system, the more pilots greater than 40% up the list will get the left over crap. 60% of the pairings are crap.

Generally, when do the reserve days off come out? How long after the reserve closing are the schedules released?

hendefea 05-23-2011 06:50 PM

just to put some facts out there....

I am about about 50% on the plane (maybe a bit more):

-4 days
-every weekend off
-got the weekend off that I HAD TO HAVE OFF
-no back to back trips
-15 days off
-92 hours of credit
-14 days off

pbs has done nothing but good things for me....just puttn it out there

PBS really isn't the problem here... The problem is the company being consistently late and pairings that are all over the place from one month to the next (ie march CDO's, 14 hour 4-days, 8 hour layovers, and what happened to the day trips and 2-days?). Contractually there should be a mix of trips, right?

The only problems I have with PBS are:
1. The 20th of the month is unacceptable to me; to see our final schedule. The 14th would be better.

2. Add a user check box to block 5 and 6 day Trips (3/3 and 4/2). If you don't want that sort of thing.

How long have you been at ASA? I'm about 59% on the 700. Used to have a great sked. I'm a weekend guy. Hate working weekends. Never had to worry about it. PBS took that away after almost 5 years. Guess that's bye bye to holidays too.

And yes, I know how to bid. Got it set up the best that it can be.

Golden Days on the 20th. Soft days on the 27th...

As was warned by all of our fellow pilots from other airlines, PBS sucks. In theory it is a great system, but it allows the company too many loopholes and tools to abuse the system and screw us all over. The union promised us that what we agreed on in the LOA was so awesome and was going to be the smoothest, best running PBS out there. Dead wrong. So I for one, am voting no on any contract that has PBS in it, and don't trust anything the union says. Just got the we're sorry email from them. Grow a pair and do something to fix this. As long as we have PBS and the standard under staffing issues, which will not change because we are always "properly staffed", this will continue. The only way to stop it is to vote out PBS. My 2 cents.

I'm not seeing how bidding for lines, instead of pairing preferences, would fix this?

How would that force the company to staff at a level that works better for us?
How would that force the company to build better, more efficient pairings?
How would it force the company to more evenly distribute the flying around the seniority list?

I don't see how PBS is at fault for the sucky schedules, can you explain it to me?
