Word directly from PP, the rest of the training dept, and everyone at payroll I've spoke to at both Colgan and Pinnacle is that the per diem clock starts rolling as soon as you're assigned a base and you leave Memphis. For my class, that meant round the clock per diem after the first two weeks of indoc, for the entirety of systems and sims. The kicker here is we've yet to be paid that amount (a shade over $1500 dollars). Word from the training department as of 5 days ago was that they had a couple hundred people to catch up on, and my class was towards the bottom of the list, so be patient and it IS coming.

This is what I've deduced from talking to several people in both the company and the union. Originally, the per diem situation worked exactly as you described (from the start of OE). For whatever reason, and I'm certainly not complaining, someone at the top decided to start paying new hires per diem sooner. This decision was made sometime around mid to late May. As a result, there were several months of classes that were owed back per diem. It took a long time to get the ball rolling and then to go back and calculate the hourly for these classes. As a result, those of us most recently hired are still waiting. I've spoken to someone from the class two before mine who was recently paid per diem for the entirety of training after leaving Memphis so this theory checks. I think the disconnect is that after this decision was made in May, no one told the guys on the MEC which is why you all are going by the previous information. Thanks for all your help though, if you're who I was conversing with via email.

I got my per diem from training (a considerable amount too) paid on the month AFTER I finished my checkride.

"Pinnacle pilots who are awarded a vacancy or who are displaced shall receive moving benefits, including continuous per diem and hotel buy-out, under the terms of the prior CBA until the first Notice and Award following the implementation of the Integrated Seniority List "
Seems to me like that's pretty cut and dried. Don't let the compnay tell you what you are and aren't entitled to, they will ALWAYS make it work in their favor. Now if you WERE one of the guys who came last week then you are still entitled to moving days but the benefit is much reduced. And if you tell them that you're still entitled to it and they won't give it to you, call the contract duty officer, that's what they're there for.

Is this also applicable to Mesaba pilots? I thought we were all under one contract, should we be getting per diem? I find no reason in the current contract why a new hire FO should not be receiving per diem for training in MSP when we are going to be based in LGA and have known this since day 1 of training other than the company trying to save some cash

Call them on it. Then sit back and see what happens.

Mukalel, you in the pool for next class? It definitely feels like an indefinite wait. I would hope sometime in the middle of July, but who knows.

Don't worry about it, enjoy your last summer off.

hey Blueskies. I just read that LOA and the statement right before that leads me to a different interpretation. I could be wrong, but what I am reading is that anyone awarded a vacancy and has not received moving days under the old CBA can still have moving expenses...then the word that I think changes it all is right before your statement....", except Pinnacle pilots who are awarded..." and so on. This leads me to think more of it as a deadline. You had until SLI to take your moving days under the old CBA, but once SLI happened you'd move to the new CBA rules. It's a tough read, and I probably need a lawyer to find out what they all were really trying to say, but Im hung up on that word 'except'. I really hope I am wrong because my interpretation leaves me right where I started...only trying to argue the language 'moving expenses' in section 6.6(I) as I really need the time off to move whether I am actually eligible for per diem and hotels or not. As of now Im being told no days off...PERIOD to move.

has anyone tried giving them a call regarding the next class date?
or is that being too much of a pest?
obviously they'll call when they know but i'm getting antsy.

1. I know a NH class starts 7/5.

2. Moving days up to and including vacancy 11-05 are the old way. The next vacancy and subsequent is the JCBA (not as lucrative).
