Now that they have the Q situation under control they are weary about taking any more Q options right away until they get the staffing sorted out on the Saab... in the mean time pinnacle is heavily understaffed, mesaba is trying to fill their LGA Saab slots, and colgan is offering 200% on all open time in July... so my guess is massive amounts of hiring for the forseeable future... limited only by the respective training departments' abilities to train so many pilots... the 6/6 Colgan class actually had all their ground school done at the hotel because Pinnacle's CEC didn't have an open classroom... and apparently rumor has it the class after that is training up in MSP... long story short, little to no reserve time for newhires and rapidly shrinking upgrade times as the age-65 bubble bursts and regional captains pour into the majors with fewer and fewer QUALIFIED pilots to fill the void...
P.S. XJ's Saabs aren't being parked.... Colgan's older Saabs are being parked and replaced with XJ's more advaned models... down the road when all of XJ's Saabs go under Colgan's control, mesaba's certificate will go away and the turboprops will all be under Colgan's certificate, which will then be renamed to Mesaba...

they can only offer 200% on all open time for so long until they realize it's in their best interest to snipe off a few percentage points of their reserve force and put together a few more build-up lines... that + the Q400 captain upgrades being reserved for colgan pilots only + the impending major airline hiring frenzy + the large number of people being hired under us + people who may want to bid into Pinnacle's CRJs = fast upgrades and little to no reserve.... in the mean time... start buying up all the open time you can scrape together and enjoy it while it lasts...

I believe they are trying to deal with the shortfall the best they can. I did get a call from Pinnacle HR this week asking if I could make the 5 July class date because of a cancellation. I am scheduled for the July 18th class and am on vacation in The Keys so that was a no-go. I hope it's not going to be a Charlie Foxtrot...time will tell. I an report back later once I'm actually in the system. Anyone else care to comment?
