Hey;
If we could get some systems study info, or cd's on the Collins FMS, or any other CRJ systems or related stuff, that could take the edge of our wait. There are websites but they want $$$.....

Becks,

The attitude is great here. Apparently we are growing like crazy, unfortunately at ASA's expense I guess. The corporate culture around is great and they treat you like human beings, unlike most airlines. Interview is thorough so start studying now. Visit one of the open houses and it is a guaranteed interview. If we are hiring until May, that is a lot of spots!!! Fresno and Palm Springs are junior on the EMB120 and Chicago and Denver are junior on the jet. Most cfi's are getting the EMB120 so don't be shocked if that is what they give you. Only a handful of cfi's are getting the jet, like around 5 a class if that. Good luck and I hope to see you here!

I am becomming inclined to the belief and disposition that SKW Bought ASA to Cannabilize and Dismantle it foor its own economic ends!

You would make it part of your business plan too if you saw how mismanaged and disorganized ASA is. We cannot even get out of our own way. Jerry is doing what any sane CEO would do. Pull as many assets out of the sinking ship while it is possible. Go to SKW. IF ASA is still around will be a little airline in two to three years. It only makes business sense. Look at it this way. Jerry got 160 airplanes a flag cert, and 15 gates in ATL for 400 MIL. That my friends is smart business. For all the ASA people out there that are going to argue that DAL would not do it to us. Frankly they do not care. They want the routes run and a quite happy to see ASA go the way of other bad airlines. SKW is run right and that is why DAL went with them and will continue to go with them. If they kill ASA, Delta will not shed any tears, most likely there will be a big party.

Is SKW allow to fly in ATL? Do they have conflicting agreements with other airlines?

JustAMushroom 09-25-2006 05:02 AM

no conflict in ATL. Only United hubs have a clause not allowing operation for another carrier. LAX,DEN,ORD,SFO.

Thats why ASA got LAX.

It is not just about the bottom line. ASA has proven that they can make money, but they do not care for their customers. It can be seen every day. Can SKW fix it. I bet they have a better chance than most.
SKW utilizes their pilots better than ASA. SKW rates are about 72-75 hrs flown per month, per pilot compared to ASA which is in the low 60's. It is not about the contract or the union, it is economics. ASA alows many pilots to dump their trips, but still allowing them the company insurance and bennies. That costs around 30,000 dollars per employee per year. ASA needs more pilots to do the same job that SKW does. It is simple economics people. SKW will do the same job for a pro-rated rate of about 70 dollars less per block hour and their people make more money and are happier. Simply put they get it. ASA doesn't. It is not a company vs union thing it is an productivity thing. That my friends means long term profit and stability. Can ASA learn to get it?They are trying, but it takes a dogmatic shift in thinking. That will be the most difficult hill to get over. Time will tell. In the mean time jump the ship or strap in because with SKW inc owning both airlines they can shift the a/c and allocations very fast.
In the long term it does not make economic sense for SKW to have two airlines. Two operating certificates yes. Their pockets are not deep enough to do this long term. They could but it is costing them tens of millions in profits a year.
