Why not start applying and interviewing at other airlines? That would definitely take the edge off the wait. While I was in the pool at ASA, I interviewed with and got hired at XJT, so you never know how things might turn out. Sounds like ASA is a sinking ship, or at least a shrinking ship...

I don't know much because I haven't been online to hear all the good rumors that probably surround the SkyWest / ASA situation. However, I wouldn't be holding my breath for ASA. Especially since SkyWest is slowing taking them over and is hiring like crazy! I wouldn't wait around for ASA unless you live in ATL and absolutely have no other options. But with everyone hiring, you have plenty of options at 1000 and 100!

I am sure Delta doesn't care who does the flying, they just want it done professionally, and of course at the cheapest rate possible so the management can get their bonuses! The Jerks...

My boss told me that Skywest is having trouble filling their classes and have dropped their minimums below 1000 to get more applicants in and that they may be opening a base in Atlanta in the next year. Anyone heard anything to confirm/deny this?

Absolutely not.

It does look as though SKW 700's and/or 900's will be operating routes that involve ATL, but they will be based in SLC, as will the crews.

That is one of the things that I like about SkyWest. They hold true to the mins. Others may bounce up/down but SkyWest holds their ground. Don't worry bud, the time comes fast.

If you took the time to look at ASA's financials then you’d see that they are a profitable airline. Yes, SKW will probably down size them but I can't see them ever totally liquidating them. Having ASA allows SKW to overlap the two airlines at airports where there current contracts don't allow them to fly. Example is LAX. SKW can not run Delta flight because of United, with ASA they can! It would be unwise for SKW to completely get rid of ASA.

Also, I'm sick of this forum! This was originally a post about hiring at SKW and it has turned in to an ASA post. This happens way to many times. If you wish to get off subject then start your own posting!!!

I currently work for SKW, we just received an email about hiring and SKW is targeting 70-100 pilots a month through March of next year.

I walked a friend’s resume in with 950TT/300ME/150 Turbine in the CRJ at ASA and they told me to bring it back when he has 1000TT. SKW holds firm to their mins. It's one of the reasons why I have yet to fly with a pilot I don't like. It keeps the low time pilots out with a serious problem with "Get-There-Itis." I’m not saying that those pilots are bad pilots.

My friend and two of his that I help, are now in ground school here.
