This is especially needed for the Q-400, that is one dangerous aircraft since it is just about as fast as jets. Management can only do so much with an ATR since they are slower, but who knows what the French will do in the future, they could redesign the thing to go faster. Always good to future proof your contract.

The ATR 72-600 is slower than a Q400, but on "regional" routes <400nm the time difference between the two is fairly minimal...and the ATR burns quite a bit less fuel.
