This is especially needed for the Q-400, that is one dangerous aircraft since it is just about as fast as jets. Management can only do so much with an ATR since they are slower, but who knows what the French will do in the future, they could redesign the thing to go faster. Always good to future proof your contract.

The ATR 72-600 is slower than a Q400, but on "regional" routes <400nm the time difference between the two is fairly minimal...and the ATR burns quite a bit less fuel.

Draw a 400nm ring around any airline hub and see just how many cities fall within it...

It should be $5 thicker. I didn't get my extra $5 for uniform allowance.

If the 50 seaters were not good enough for them, why would they want to fly something with a propeller? If Delta is too good for propellers (even for their contractors) then every mainline aspiring pilot should take on this same attitude. Pretty soon mainline pilots will be too good to fly any airframe that doesn't fly international. Republic may carve out a pretty big niche for themselves after all . . . .
