"Portuguese Death Trawler" was my favorite when I worked with Embooger 120 pilots. "Broke-zilla" and the aforementioned "Burrito Bomber" were acceptable substitutes. "Bro" was a quick way to identify yourself as someone who failed out of the SKW interview process.

Not sure where exactly the name came from but it stuck we all call it the Bro. Probably because Bra doesn’t work and it’s an physical airplane to fly so whoever started Bro wanted a masculine sound. Either way it stuck and seems to fit, at least at SkyWest.

The name came from the west coast crews that fly it. Particularly SAN/SBA crews where Bro is common lingo amongst the guys that grew up here surfing, skating, dirt biking etc....It works on the West Coast....Only guys that seem to not like it are the nozzles from the east coast. Got it Bro?

It seems to me, at my company at least, it's called a Bro because it's a manly man's plane. You gotta fly the jo's, Beeches, and/or Tubes before you get in the left seat of the Bro.
