Thanks. So does the aircraft you're assigned just depend on what's needed? so you could have one class getting all RJ's and another getting all Brasilia?

Is there an equipment lock on either plane, or can you go back and forth between them?

Yes, it just depends on what's needed. There is a one year seat lock.

The only limitation to going between jet and bro after one year (or vice versa if you wanted to) is class availability and seniority. If there is no movement, then they won't be running classes.

It depends on their need, though sometimes you're given a choice. I was given a choice, and picked first available. That turned out to be the Brasilia, and I'm glad I got it for several reasons.

Upgrade time is currently (and has historically always been) quicker on the Brasilia. As to what that is for a pilot starting out now, who knows... Current upgrades were hired 4-5 years ago I believe.

I would recommend that a career-oriented new-hire take the bro given the choice. That way your seniority will go up faster and it will be much easier to take the bro upgrade (which will probably come long before the jet).

You can upgrade into the bro without ever having flown it, but few people attempt that as it's pretty challenging. The upgrade training program is really geared for those who have flown it before...it's a little light on sim time.

If you really need money or are planning on staying at SKW, just do the jet and stay there.

So any clue on time to get a fresno base??? 3 months?? 1 year?? Thanks so much for the info?

So is it a common occurrence for them to wait until sim to tell you where you are going to be based? Is this a general thing with the regionals or do some tell you when hired where you are going to be based in order to give you a chance to say yes or no?

When I worked at RAH 4 years ago you didnt find out your base until nearly through with ground school.

Rick, I think if you look at the recent EMB CA awards, its been almost exclusively CRJ FOs. I agree that you've got your work cut out for you, but most guys are doing it and getting through.

FAT on the bro: immediately
FAT on the jet: a few months currently

When I worked there back in 2008, we didn't get our base assignment until the day of our checkride!

I got assigned CLE and had a few days before they wanted me there for IOE, but they wouldn't give me a hotel in CLE during IOE because I was "in base." I found out early how ****ty RAH treats its employees...
