SKYWEST Training and Reserve time

For the guys that recently went through the training, how long were you in Salt Lake for(start to IOE)? What are the chances of getting KLAX, or KFAT. Im in CRJ class of August 29th. Thanks...:)

Looks like both LAX and FAT are somewhat junior. Not as junior as MSP/ORD/IAH but I am not sure what your original base will be. Maybe MSP or IAH. It shouldn't take long to get to either one of your choice. Were still really short on pilot's so your getting in at a good time to avoid reserve.

Is skywest holding the 1000hrs TT as the HARDDECK or are they flexible with TT

1000TT/100ME is firm. We used to offer lower to current CRJ pilots, I believe 850/100. If you're an instructor you will not get hired below 1000 unless your mom or dad or both work at corporate.

LAX might be the most senior RJ FO base we have, Fresno on the other hand is somewhat junior on the FO side. I've never met anybody who got on with less than 1,000 hours (sans CRJ time). It coulda happened, but even the most nepotistic hiring didn't include low time guys....FWIW

I think I know of a very few cases, but you would need to already be familiar with the inside of the HQ building.

The class prior to us were awarded in the following order...

ORD
MSP
IAH....

then the west coast. Although some did get DEN & SLC. We will find out during sim about our domiciles. You will spend 8 weeks of ground school, matrix and FTD sessions in SLC. SIM will be based on space availability. Our class is split between ATL and SLC. No Cincinnati. The checkride is scheduled for September 18, so do expect 2 months of ground training before you get to fly.

Just curious, how long is it taking to get IOE scheduled after the checkride. Wondering if they are still behind, got dropped for IOE this week.

What determines if you get placed on the prop or the jet? Is the upgrade time the same for both?

It depends on their need, though sometimes you're given a choice. I was given a choice, and picked first available. That turned out to be the Brasilia, and I'm glad I got it for several reasons.

Upgrade time is currently (and has historically always been) quicker on the Brasilia. As to what that is for a pilot starting out now, who knows... Current upgrades were hired 4-5 years ago I believe.
