Default bad reference

Has anyone had a previous flying job not recommend you for rehire? My flight school marked that when American Eagle sent them the records request. Has this happened to anyone? What did it do to your offer with the airline?
Thanks

I had this happen 5 years ago when I left my instructing gig for a regional. I gave them 2 weeks and they were upset because they wanted more time and I explained that 2 weeks was the norm and I had a class date that I needed to be in. The head guy was upset and said that we would give everyone and anyone who asks a bad reference for me.

I called my new airline and told them this and their response was "who cares, we see this a lot"

Not saying this will be the same in your case but it does happen

Well I only taught there, for 18 months. Eagle called me and asked me to send them a short email to add to my file explaining it. I am supposed to hear Friday the outcome from the final review.

I would think the biggest thing would be why would it happen. Did it happen because you gave two weeks notice and they wanted more, or because you were involved in an incident? A lot could change depending on how they view what happened.

Well, I was part time, I gave plenty of notice, and they said I had a "bad attitude" which is bogus. That does not warrant a would not rehire recommendation imo.

WHY did they say you were not eligible for rehire?

Did you bail without two weeks notice? Did you leave your students hanging? Or were you a lousy employee?

Did you disclose that your employer might say bad things and why?

In almost thirty years since I left high school, I have been fired twice by two different companies. One rehired me a year later, and the second offered to forward a personal NOT professional reference (I failed to meet their training requirements) because I was a forthright and honest guy.

When I was in the hiring department at one company, I had to let a guy go because he had a shortfall, but I, too, offered him a reference because he was an a-j-squared-away guy who just happened to not meet our standards. His next employer contacted me, and with my recommendation, he was hired.

If the company was like a bitter ex lover, the new company will understand (especially if you give them a heads up), but if you burned a bridge, you may be out of luck.

I don't know you so I am not able to make a judgement, but NOBODY thinks they have a bad attitude. Think back. What makes them say your attitude was bad? For example, did you refuse to fly through a tropical storm or did you only fly when it was clear blue and a million?

They cited a bad attitude, that was it. I passed my students off because we were slow. I was not flying at all because there were really no students coming in. I was frustrated about the lack of work and was not going to sit in the office by the phone waiting for new students with out pay. I took a 135 job and that was 8 months ago.

Not passing judgement (I may well have done the same thing), but if your boss saw you being "frustrated", he may have decided you have a bad attitude.

(again, I don't know you and am not passing judgement)
