For all you Mesa/Air Midwest playa hate'as

There never is a shortage of people bashing Mesa/Air Midwest pilots. For those that are at another Regional...I am not sure why you dislike the "other" guys so much...
Here is my point...I just sat in on a FedEx New Hire class yesterday and there were once again, mixed in with all the military guys MULTIPLE Mesa pilots in the class. No XJT, Horizon, Skywest...ect, ect. So as you sit back and enjoy the CHOICE you made to have a career at a Regional...those Mesa guys will continue to get hired at the "Top of the Food Chain."
FYI...You can't get hired at FedEx unless you have an internal recommendation with a pilot you have FLOWN with. So Mesa/Air Midwest guys will continue to get their buddies hired.

And XJT guys and Skywest guys and Colgan guys will continue to get their freinds hired at FedEx too... I fail to see your point.
I think what it comes down to is that most of us dislike the way Mesa the company does business, not Mesa the pilots. At least thats how I feel. If a guy wants to work at Mesa or feels like he has no other option but to work at Mesa, then thats his perogative. But when you have a CEO who publicly stated "If resumes continue to come across my desk, then I am paying people too much" then you end up with a company that lowers the bar for the rest of us.

BTW when I left mesa, the bottom of the captain list was moving 4-5 numbers per month...after you account for retirements, medical problems, and career changers, that leaves 1-2 getting hired at a major. The number at SKW is 15-20 / month. Somebody out there doesn't like mesa captains...and even if you're the greatest guy on earth, if all the captains are stuck in front of you, how are you going to get your PIC?

Global. After about a year of that I bailed.
Note: if you are a junior mesa FO, your seniority will rise at a fantastic rate 50-100+ numbers/month as more senior FO's quit in disgust. But once you get to the captain threshold, it comes to a screeching halt.

Getting hired at FEDEX is 100% related to knowing someone, has nothing to do with wich regional you worked for.

Don't get your feathers ruffled...my point is that if you want to get out of the regionals and on to a major airline...why bash Mesa/Air Midwest? Because you are not there? If there are very, very few Skywest guys at FedEx then chances are they are going to hire very few in the future. You need PIC time to get on at any major and you can upgrade at Mesa your first year. The sooner you do that the sooner you are at a major...if that is what your goal is.
So before anyone discourages another pilot trying to get on at a Mesa...why?
PS...Rick, you weren’t that FO that was filming his landing in the RJ going into Dulles were you???

Those MESA Whors are getting hired becuase their buddies are walking their stuff in ,not becuase the head guys at FEDEX are impressed that they sold themselves to the devil for 5 years, or becuase MESA has made them superior pilots!

YAWN.. has this dead horse been beaten to a pulp or what? Bottom line is that MESA is for guys looking ahead and are willing to get the shaft to get there. And it IS a sacrifice especially for the guys flying the 1900s who have no life. It's no surprise that they are all over the new hire classes, if you work at a sweatshop you will be looking for something better.
