Mike,

You're right- but some of them are so "real"- I can't help but think "yeah, I want to be challenged; I want it to be "real"- but I can't take 3 weeks off from my life to get good at it!

I just purchased the Falcon 4.0 this summer and I kinda gave up on it because I had to go make my actual life. And because the wife and kids were out of town, I did have plenty of free time!

It is amazing how far the graphics, etc have come in ten years. It still amazes me that the MS Flight Sim will put you at any airport and it will look generically the same but with boxy buildings, etc.

BTW anyone know the time frame on when the new one's going to be in stores??? And that part that MS said about every switch and dail working Im hoping that means some decent systems simulation this time around.... That was one of the things I really liked about FLY!2 almost every switch and dial really did work and pretty close to the way it worked in the real airplane. (none of that msfs crap of starting a jet engine by opening the fuel valve and then holding the starter till it goes)

Excellent game - and its entirely free. The missions (except the one dealing with blowing up Iran's nuke capability) are based on real ones already done by Delta / Marines / SAS / SEALs...

for the combat sims (flying involved) i perfer the IL-2 series, (forgotten battles and Pacific fighters) .... years ago i liked the MS Combat FS series, but it seemed to lack everything that this program had.

When it came to Falcon, i was highly impressed w/ the old version 3.0, and not nearly as impressed with the 4.0 version, just me.

Hah the Feelthere erj is nice. I've been rockin out with that system and its FMS.

For those of you who don't know, there's a demo out for FSX, you get to fly a CRJ700 into St. Marteen...yeah, the one with the beach. It's certainly different; when you apply full power your head leans back. Hang some drag out or stand on the brakes and your perspective looks down briefly. Sorta...cool.

YES. IL-2 is a great game. I prefer the modern jet combat though. As far as Falcon goes, F3 was great game with bad graphics and I had high expectations for F4. Too bad the company fell apart before it was really ready to be published. There are numerous mods out for that game now however, you may want to give it another chance. It runs much better on todays fast processors/graphic cards. But boy, the learning curve is steep for F4.
