That would be correct. There's ONLY one provision of the ASA CBA as it pertains to reserves that's better than the XJT CBA.

 

All hiring right now is on the XJT side. ASA is still under their own contract with a completely different system.

So their long call guys can be converted to short call like ours but theirs aren't allowed to be assigned ready reserve like ours can? I hope we keep that in the new contract.

Yea, long call reserves cannot be assigned ready, even when converted to short call. That is the one and ONLY bonus to long call reserve. The company has settled into how they control reserves. In the first few years reserve was actually pretty good as the company didn't use there little benefits built into the contract. If you were awarded long call you could almost certainly sit on 12 hr call all month long. If you were awarded short call you could expect 1 or 2 ready reserve periods, maybe a few more.

In the last year the company has begun to take full advantage of anything in the contract that benefits them, even if they don't need it operationally. If you are awarded short call you can almost guarantee 4-6 ready reserve periods, often before half of the month is over. If you are awarded long call you will be converted to short call 5-7 times per month. Even if there are a TON of reserve that day they'll still convert you because they can.

I REALLY hope in the joint CBA that the number of ready reserve day's and short call conversions is cut at least in half because it is ridiculous what they're allowed to do right now. Those sort of things in the CBA were intended for IROP day's and maybe holiday's but the company operates normally off of those clauses.

Well that's just blasphemy right there. Because according to some other people on the pre-SOC/ASA side, ANYTHING that is going to make the pilots life better will make the company NOT cost competitive. Therefore, losing ALL flying the very next day a CBA get's signed (sarcasm).
