Default ASA and hotel while in training

Gentlemen and Gentleladies,

Please confirm or deny....after reviewing the contract

An ATL based FO getting an upgrade to IAD CA will or will not get a hotel room paid for by the company while in long term upgrade training?

Thanks

I believe that is confirmed. I don't believe you are considered based there until complete with training or the date of the award, just as you don't get ca pay while in training. Congrats on the upgrade. Just curious, how long have you been here?

I'll pass on the congrats.....My good buddy has been with ASA since Oct 05 and is contemplating the IAD upgrade. He lives in central Washington State. We were discussing the hotel issue last night. In my former life at Eagle...if you were DFW based and lived more than 50 nm away from base, then they provided you a room. But if you based and live in DFW....then it's your own bed for you.
But it appears that at Acey, ya'll dont get a hotel room as ATL based pilots during training.

You're not IAD based until you complete training, so, no, you won't get a hotel room.

However, once you're IAD based, you'll get a hotel for all training events going forward.

Does it matter? It's not like we are upgrading people...

Actually we are in a really screwed up way. From my understanding they are displacing junior captains only to upgrade someone senior who now wants the upgrade. Look at the preliminaries, at least that's what I'm hearing....

Do you mean that pilots don't get a hotel during upgrade training? Thanks.

I think it's pretty standard in the industry that pilots don't get hotels for training performed in their base. Now, if you're doing training out of base, different story.
