"In the first year, you should be focused on becoming a good first officer and learning the airplane. Your second year, you need to be working on your decision making that will be needed once you upgrade".

SOUNDS LIKE A GOOD PLAN!!!!

Default Couldn't agree more

couldn't agree more with DjHubberts. That is the way to go.
No rush in upgrading at all.
Saying that, I've been an FO for 2, flown thru all seasons, had my share of problems and looking for a left seat (mostly to pay off loans)
Anyone has an opening?

I have 2 friends who just upgraded to CA. 1 was a 2 year F/O with Mesa in the Dash-8, the other was a 4 1/2 year F/O with Eagle in a RJ. Like many have said, it all depends on company need. From what Captains are telling me, you dont want to change seats within the first 18 months in that particular aircraft, just because you want to familiarize yourself with the plane.

Hope this helps.
