Default Eagle upgrade times

I keep hearing that the typical Eagle upgrade is about 10 yrs. Can anybody else shine some light on this?

Thanks!

I am a former Eagle pilot, but know for a fact that the most junior Eagle pilot upgrade awarded just days ago is an April 1999 date of hire. It was for LAX Saab340 Captain.

Why would anybody stay at Eagle for 10 years? And a tprop guy at that. Are you guaranteed a job at AA or something? What is the point of being abused for 10 years?

There is a flow thru to mainline, however it expires soon.

I have a few friends there, they've been there 1-2 years, they stay there because they can same day commute (as opposed to AWAC) and have a 3 on/3 off schedule with 15 (true) days off a month. Second year in the RJ is around $30k/yr which I guess for them is enough. It's more about QOL than anything else; American and Eagle aren't going anywhere for the time being and their bases have remained pretty stable throughout the years (again referencing AWAC here...).

I don't think any regional pilot is happy.

I'm an eagle FO, its a decent QOL but I would definitely want to move on. After a few years of sitting in the right seat of an RJ where can you really go from there? No PIC turbine time. Start over at another regional in hopes of quicker upgrade? I am open to suggestions! The flowthrough here is a joke and if any eagle FO thinks they will ever flow through to AA then they are smoking crack.

You could always look at the fractionals.

I know at least 3 people who were hired at CAL with no PIC turbine time. They only had right seat 121 experience just like you. It can't hurt to apply. CAL is actively hiring as we speak. In today's world, I couldn't think of a better "dream job" at a legacy carrier than CAL. Good luck to you.

eagle upgrade times= forever!

have a buddy who has been to two different bases, been thru two airplanes (Saab and EMB-145) and has been in the right seat for 7 years now.. he applied to Continental in the winter and the denied him because he had a lack of career progression and wanted to see some 121 PIC time

is it me, or do the airlines always want the one thing you cant get or dont have?
