So who is suddenly picking up the United Flying if Colgan planes are supposedly already being parked?

My guess XJT 135s and I believe I saw some tsa guys talking about a little bit more IAH flying soon.

These rumors are getting out of control. This whole returning to lease thing has caused quite a buzz. But it is happening because the last time we were given any communication from leadership was a month ago when he told us the CFO was leaving. There has not been a peep since then and this is what happens when there is silence. This may be something significant but it may be nothing at all. We should all chill out until monday.

Penn air and Silver are picking up the IAD saab flying ( apparently) Not sure where the 135 fits there, but you wouldn't use a 135 to replace a Q400. I'm not too sure why people get so worked up about this. Regardless of what you do or think now.. it will, or will not happen. Relax, enjoy the end, and keep your eyes open for the next thing.

Gosh, and I thought Great Lakes was predicted to be at the end of its rope by now....and those predictions came just a few months ago.

I wonder what Great Lakes will do when the ATP rule hits, who in their right mind with 1500 hours and an ATP would go fly for 13,900/yr!!

From my experiences at Fly I the planes will generally go to company maintenance first to make sure all MELs are fixed and that the aircraft is ready to go back to the lessor unless the company shuts down and there are no mechanics to inspect them. I don't know how the Qs and 900s are financed, but at Fly I the CRJs were leased through several different banks and most will want the original engines back on the aircraft. Some had company pilots ferry them to storage locations and some had their own pilots come to the maintenance hangar at Dulles to ferry them.

When Fly I was negotiating the return of some of the CRJs there was one that was leased to the company by an individual. The story goes that he was being an SOB (course I might be an SOB if Tom and Kerry called and said they were sticking me with an airplane) and demanded the original engines, etc. When he showed up at the hangar in Dulles the CRJ was sitting there with two crated engines, and he was told to get the engines mounted on his own. Needless to say he wasn't happy but finally had his pilots ferry the aircraft out after getting the engines mounted.

Hopefully the company will have an announcement soon so employees can properly plan their futures. Rumors will spiral out of control anyway, but it would be nice to have some solid information.

They would have been if the federal government didn't include "EAS" funding in the latest Aviation bill.
