A couple of the guys who have busted their checkrides did so because they crashed during a single-engine go-around or crashed during landing. I would have never expected it from them to fail and I felt bad for them considering they're great guys but I guess sht happens sometimes.

This is spot on! Sometimes the guys you least expect it from
get bit in the ass by bad luck/inexperience/brain farts all on the same flight and unfortunately that flight is a checkride

If its so hard to transition why didnt the XJ Saab guys have problems in years past? Seems it may be a little of the training dept. or am I wrong about The XJ guys?

The difference is the guys now are for all practical purposes new hire street captains at a new company, vs the guys a few years back who upgraded in house. Anytime you have to learn a new companies procedures, FOM, etc PLUS a type on a new plane you are going to have a higher failure rate since there is alot more stuff for you to learn and forget.

We have had guys leaving for a while now and passing 737, A320, E190, 757, MD11 etc with no issues but it is the mighty CRJ 200 that is the silver bullet apparently.

SGT herein lies the problem. I know you're somewhat kidding but lots of guys really see the "mighty CRJ" as a fully automated jet that does everything for you and do not take it seriously when transitioning from regional prop to regional jet. "Mighty CRJ" in their minds is easy bake oven barbie jet. Of course they study their butts off more and give 200% when leaving a regional and going to fly a Boeing at what hopefully is their final airline. Plus they go in as an FO, not throw to the wolves as a CA with higher standards.
Plus, I'm guessing your coworkers that left to fly those bigguns had more overall experience than the guys who are transitioning to the CRJ.
The biggest issues I see are initial "this will be a piece of cake jet" syndrome (which they are welcomed to reality around sim 4) and just the general speed of the plane. The guys that come in without the barbie jet attitude or who take it seriously and want to learn, know their profiles, and don't expect to be spoon fed as a 121 CA have no problems on the ride. Luckily those prepared people are in the majority.

No but Sean helped me get a job here. I will be leaving in 3 months because my dad knows Trenary and I will be a street CA at People's Express. But first I have to spend a month a GoJetssssss to build PIC time.

You may be right on a lot of your points but having been trained by 3 different organizations and from other comments I've heard from pilots trained at Eagle and then XJ and then 9E (as well as pilots hired at 9E, trained and then quit to go to Skywest) the training at 9E is a big part of the problem. It just isn't up to par with the rest of the industry. The training philosophy and the training department as a whole needs to be overhauled. It is a century behind the times. Should people not be allowed to upgrade? Probably. But if you are constantly having a 40% failure rate then maybe someone needs to re-examine the training department. The haul damage statistics for 9E don't bode well either for their training philosophy.
