Skywest or ExpressJet

Simply question, Skywest or ExpressJet. I like Salt Lake, Denver, Chicago. I don't really like Houston, Newark, Cleveland. West coast is cool, East coast.... whatever. Mountains vs buildings. Union vs. Non-union. 19.02 1st year vs 22. something. Continental colors vs. United/Delta colors.
Oh the choices. Chime in folks. Especially those of you that work at each place. I got to decide sometime soon.

Both good companies, and the pay should be similar after year one (probably better at SKW w/ bonuses). Good geography is huge if you do outdoor stuff, I have lived in both IAH and SLC...no comparison. No point in even discussing cleveland or EWR.

Both are good companies...I would watch Expressjets business plan though...myself I'm wondering what EJ is going to do with the remain 59 of 69 aircraft lost from CAL? And how is the charter company is going to work out? I have a friend in EJ...he says that the management is excited about the new charter company...like I said...I have my third eye open on the situation.

Heh, heh, heh.... she said tranny.
What's worse Fresno, or Houston?
Sacramento or Cleveland?
What's more expensive, LAX or EWR?
SkyWest does have bases which are more difficult to live in than others, and you go where they send you... (junior base is still ORD I think).
Another consideration is XJT's contract, one of the best in the regionals. SKYW has no contract, just a comitment from management to pay well. I had a buddy at SKYW for a few years. He called in sick once and was told, "No problem, just don't do it again for 18 months."
Having said that, a job offer from either one trumps any other considerations, they're both top shelf regionals.

Skywest. West coast is awesome. East coast is... I like Denver, but also any of the California bases are good places to live. Skywest is much more stable. They are doing lots of flying for two airlines (United and Delta) and they are expanding rapidly, and will continue for the near future. Expressjet only flys for Continental, and come next year their business might go to **** (with this new corporate flying). Don't worry about the first year pay. That is only one year. Look at all the other years. Upgrade will probably be much quicker at Skywest (That is a good thing about a regional that flies turboprops as well).
Skywest is the better choice for you, in my opinion.

Good point about the contract though, that is an advantage. It is nice to whip that out and say "see, my ass is covered". Commuter clause is great if you commute and get a missed trip for legitimate reasons. Try that at SKYW. The downside of course is ALPA's stellar record with the regionals...
